I have some big pumpkins that were decorations. I normally only cook with the "pie pumpkins" that you get in the produce dept. However, these large pumpkins are perfectly good...do they taste the same? Should you eat them like squash...or do they taste bad and should be thrown away?

We cut ours up, cooked it, and froze several containers in pie sizes, and it was great. Go for it.

Yes, you can use them as long as they weren't carved up for decorations. They are the same as pie pumpkins. Use just the same way. You won't taste any difference.

Sure they taste the same, they are the same thing. They don't do anything different to a "pie pumpkin" to make it better... so go for it!!! Well as long as it's not rotted...lol

well for sure save the seeds for snacks..
as for the meat was it a carved Jack o Lantern
then NO
the meat of a whole decorator pumpkin will not have the flavor but you can adjust the spices that make 90% of the flavor and the sugar also..
it is worth the try..
