Anyone have a change of heart for Islam in South Africa? Could this be the start to change in Darfur?

Call me an optimist, but if we the world continue to pressure them they may start to give in to our demands more (we need lots of pressure). Then we can move on to the resurged Taliban, then who knows?

What do you mean if the world continues to pressure them that we can change? Only thing i saw was a bunch of islamphobe haters bashing Islam and showing their ignorance on this site since the whole incident began. What did they do to help that teacher? nothing!

"Earlier Monday, President Omar al-Bashir pardoned Gibbons after two British Muslim politicians from the House of Lords met with him to plead for her release.

Ghazi Saladdin, a senior presidential adviser, said al-Bashir insisted that Gibbons had a "fair trial," but he agreed to pardon her because of the efforts by the British Muslim delegation."

From above statements its clear that British Muslims made a petition and made other efforts as well as meet the president in person to plead for her release. Also, the Sudan president pardoned her BECAUSE of the efforts of the British Muslim delegation.

So what have the bigots done to help her? Nothing, only thing they did was bash Islam on here. No pressure in the world would have saved her, it was the efforts of the British Muslims who said it was not a big deal naming the animal and that it was a misunderstanding.

Its more likely to be an attempt to remove a distraction so that the government can concentrate on completing its genocide in Darfur. By all accounts the situation there is getting worse and worse.

It is pretty crazy. I'm glad to hear of it. But you know with what is going on here (greed out of control, selfishness, lack of compassion, etc.), it seems like we do need at least some of muslim principles if that makes any sense. We need to be more balanced because it seems we are going off the deep end. Have you watched any of Planet in Peril? I did last night. It just makes me cry. What is happening? It all seems so hateful.

Good. I'm happy she was pardoned for really it just shows the kids support there religion by naming a cuddly stuffed animal after him so I don't think it was deserving of her to do to jail. Plus it was a stuffed animal not a living animal. I weren't care if a kid named a stuffed animal Jesus.

No one thinks any more of them now. They have merely staved off greater international ridicule and sanctions.
