I don't have any bible verses to go with mine. This was also more of an assurance than a promise too. My dad had been an alcoholic since before I was born. I'm 20 so that's a long time. About a year ago it was the worst it had ever been. He had lost everything and was homeless. It was the worst feeling in the world to see someone I loved so much be in such a bad situation. I bought him a hotel room on christmas eve just so I know he could wake up in a bed the next morning. He fell over passing out so many times because he was so drunk. I thought he was going to die. Every time I saw him I would have to leave knowing that he was going to be sleeping in the woods that night. Nothing has ever hurt as much as this. One day he wanted me to take him to clearwater so he could straighten out his life. He could go to AA meetings and he was on parole so there was less of a chance he would get caught. I dropped him off at a mall with his back pack. I didn't hear from him for months. I then got a call from him and he was in jail. I knew that he needed to be there. A few months later I was going on a missions trip to Mexico. I got calls from him but I was so busy I could never answer it. I then called the number and found out he was no longer in jail. This was the day before I was going to go on my trip and I was so worried. I thought of not even going because I was afraid he would fall into the same thing again. I felt like a failure. Like I didn't do my job. I was supposed to look up places for him to go when he would leave jail, but I had not found any yet. I was so stressed and so worried. Then God spoke to me. He told me that I don't need to worry. I could have compassion for someone, but don't take their burden. He told me that my dad had given his burden to Jesus. It was hard for me to believe. I didn't listen and kept worrying. That night I finally got in touch with him. The whole time he was in jail he had been doing bible studies. His hearing was in Port Richey which is kind of far from the jail. He didn't even know if he was going to be released. He did, but when he left he had no where to go. It just so happened that the guy that did the bible studies was in the parking lot. He called a bunch of places and found somewhere for my dad to stay. My dad didn't even have to pay rent for the first few months and got allowance. He has been going to meetings everyday and has been great ever since! It just amazes me how God was telling me that I didn't have to worry in the first place. He has done so much in my life and my dad's life, and He keeps blessing me everyday.

Guess you should go back to the Bible and check out some atrocities there. More blood in the Old Testament than in the whole of the Qur'an.
