I don't have the remote in front of me now. But, I believe the CC function is accessed using the Settings button (left side of the remote, about in the middle).

Push the Settings button and a menu of choices appears on the left side of the screen. Scroll down if necessary to go through them all to find the Closed Caption setting. If you can't find it on this menu, push the yellow A button. This brings up a set of additional setting controls.

When you do find the Closed Caption menu item, push the right-arrow button to select it. Then push the up- or down-arrow button to deselect Closed Caption.

Push the left-arrow button to exit from the Closed Caption setting and save your choice. From here, you either push the red C button or push the Settings button to exit out of the menu, I can't remember which.

Time Warner Closed Captioning

If it is the box the instruction manuals are online at the web site for your Time Warner cable location. And that web address is on your bill or all their ads telling you what you can buy from them on TWC.

Captions usually are on the TV set and are controlled by the TV set's MENU. The abbreviation CC means closed captions and if you see CC1 enabled you need to change that setting to OFF.

If you mean the menus and guides that pop up on the DVR you can CLEAR those off with the CLEAR button or the EXIT button on your cable remote. And you can set the timing of those elements in the Cable Box SETUP menu with the SETUP key on the cable remote.

The remote should have a CC key. Keep pressing until captions are off.
