I have heard where some scholars have said the Beast 666 directly pertained to Roman Emporer Nero, and symbolically to any despotic ruler. That makes sense to me.

The stuff about Babylon is strangely compelling today, considering the situation with Iraq.

A very unusual book compared to other books in the Bible. There are references to symbolic dreams and so on in the Old Testament, but nothing is quite like the Book of Revelation.

it matters not how many times u read the book of revelation.. in actuality if you dont have an understanding of what all the symbols that are found in the book of revelation it will be of no use to anyone
so just where ae these keys found to unlock or unravel these riddles that are found their in? ,, thousands upon thousands teach what they themselves dont know on the prophecies and symbols found their in just causing further comfusion .. //
is it because they fear that this book talks about them and are afraid to acknowledge this ?? remember this, although revelation is in symbolic language and its not a book that u can read in chronological order either its still a book that is revealed for in revelation 1 it states who ever hasa ear let the hear and read and do the prophecies found their in.
JESUS stated this as a revelation and it was to be given to the churches and this doesnt just mean 7 literal churches in asia at the time..
many of the prophecies are directed to the later days meaning long after they had passed away most ofthes books sayings would be fulfilled .. in revelation does it not state that for instance in prohetic language a beast represents nations people and kingdoms??. u had 4 beasts rising up out of the sea i havent time to go through it all but revelation and daniel go hand and hand many of the same symbols are found their in and also explains just what is meant .. beasts arekingdoms that would come upon the earth the first beast waas already in power n that was babylon it would soon be ended and the medes and persians would emerge the n the grecian empire then the 4th and last beast wth the terible teeth symbolized rome and its armies that crushed everything insight and ruled with an iron sword. it said in daniel 2 that no matter how hard other nations after these 4 tried to have world dominion they would not hold together
their was to be a little horn power that came up out of the roman empir ethough that was a dual church and statepower combining religious authority with civil power and it would arise and rule for a period of exactly 1,260 years prohetic time 42 months and eleswhere stated as 31/2 years and elsewhere again 1,260 days ad it up itall ammounts to the same time..
where folks go wrong in this prohetic time period is that they think its speaking about literal time .. remember the book of revelation is prophetic in nature sowhen u understand this you have to search elsewhere for the key tounlockwhat it means then .. without going into detail to much on example is found when the spys after the exodus 12 of them were sent into cainan to bring back a report to moses .. when they came back after 40days they brought back a negative report and had everyone terrifyed by accenting the negatine ,, only joshua and caleb stood up and said we are able to have victory through GOD.
ANYWAY the punishment for disbelief was 40 more years wandering in the wilderness a day for a year they spied ou t the land

satan wants people today to think all scripture isnt inspired by GOD AND is not useful for doctrine or reproof and it cant make u wise unto salvation either ,, what a pity satan for the most part has blinded the spiritual eyesight of so many professed christian leaders who inturn preach smooth things to their flock .. // many also cause fear by disavowing GOD AS MERCIFUL AND LOVING BUT PAINT A PICTURE OF A CRUEL TYRANT that has an ego problem that those that reject his love will spend all eternitY in some hell fire and that the fire neve goes out and yet they cant die or be relieved from this existance becuse GOD DELIGHTS IN SEEING THEM TORTURED FOR REFUSING HS LOVE!! To me it displays great imagination as in liberally applying Greek mythology/even Roman mythology to Jesus Christ.

It is written by Apostle John (Jesus's closest friend) while on a Greek island.

Essentially the Book of Revelation declares Good triumphs over evil at the very end (my view).
