Kids younger than 18 are more likely to fall victim to distractions because they don't seem to take driving quite as seriously as they need to. Kids that are 18 do tend to be more responsible than a 16 year old... so perhaps it WOULD do some good.

It might a little bit but who knows how much. Since they just began driving their going to be driving like maniacs anyway until they get older or get the repair bill for it and then they will slow down. That's just the way we are we want to see how fast the car and the engine will go. If they raised the limit to 18 then it would help if they had stricter guidelines like you have to practice for a few years and then get tested, the thing that sucks is when they first drive their going to feel so invincible their going to end up doing something stupid speeding, flooring it when a light changes from red, try to run a light, possibly have an accident. Good Luck on your paper

Some things to consider:

1. Experience creates better drivers, if everyone starts driving later doesn't that mean that we'll have the same problems but the drivers will just be older?

2. What about 16 and 17 year olds that need transportation to and from jobs? What impact will this law have on local employers?

3. Will this cause the amount of people driving without a license to increase??

any way of taking drivers off the road would help. The 16 and 17 year group I'm sure gets into more accidents but its because there still just learning to drive. You would just make your inexperienced drivers older so now it would be the 18 year group getting in more accidents. Overall yes it would help but it will still have its problems in the future. No different then the idea of putting a maximum age on driving, less people on the road means less chance of an accident
