There two forms such destruction takes. One is simply "dissolution" and this is when everything is pulled up to the Causal region, and there is darkness for a period equal to how long there was light.

The other is a "grand dissolution" and this is when everything [which means the physical realm, the Astral realm, and the Causal realm] is pulled up to the bottom of the Spiritual realms. The Souls go into a "sleep" and everything is dark for a period of time equal to the time there was light.

No one knows how long this has been taking place.

Peace

I think this world has been created and destroyed many times before we don't know how many times but if you look into religious scriptures they say a person has to take many live before salvation in the same the world way be made and destroyed no of times before because it keeps on having life and death on it. So we can say the world was made and destroyed many times before.

That depends on the religion.

After all, the Maya believed this world has been through four life cycles, and will be destroyed (as we know it...That's not to say it will be DESTROYED, just that it will change) to make way for a new world in 2012.

Though, technically....This world has been created once and destroyed zero times.

After all, this planet wouldn't be here if it were destroyed, now would it?

It has been created ten times and destroyed nine times.

As per Hindu scriptures, Vishnu will once again be born as Kalki when there is too much sin in the world. He will destroy the world again, keeping only the good people intact.

(... but honestly, I do not know whether to believe in this crap or not.)

By world if you mean the earth, the earth has not been destroyed. God did destroy man and beast off the earth with a flood of water in Noah's day and saved only Noah and Noah's family. God said the next time man and beast would be destroyed by fire but God would never destroy the earth.
The earth will be made new...world without end.

It is something that no scientist can answer .when some planet falls into some star and undergoes nuclear reaction for thousands of eon what of the original planet will remain as it is for any one to unearth and prdict its past character? Will carbon dating help find out the age of any material?
since time has no beginning and the matter in the cosmos is also without beginning (and have been subject to changes incessantly ) it can not be said how many times a particular mass of a clestial body has undergone changes. The number of times, a thing that has no beginning , has undergone change , cannot be determined .as no evidence of its past life will survive the nuclear reaction it undergoes as a blackhole or a red giant or a white dwarf etc .

Created? Once. Destroyed? That depends on your definition of destroyed. Do floods, fires, ice ages count as destruction? If so, then it has been "destroyed" many times. If not, then it has never been destroyed, it just evolved.

I don't think the world has been created or destroyed.

In the process of evolution, this world was formed. Only there has been many changes in the world, but no complete destruction & no creation again & again.
