I've heard, but cannot verify and not interested in trying, that a starfish taste like crap, especially the brown starfish.

Yes, but it isn't very tasty and there's not much flesh inside the shell. Most (probably all, but just to be safe) aren't poisonous to eat. Some have spines that are poisonou, so you probably want to be careful catching your starfish. Think about sea urchins - "uni" at your local sushi bar - same general family.
I just think that you'd have to be REALLY hungry to bother with starfish.

everybody but robert is actually wrong... starfish are very edible... i like to smash them repeatedly with a mallet untill they become somewhat grainy... i then place the bits of starfish into a boiling pot of water with some lawry's salt... boil for 3 hours until a thick film gathers at the top of the water... starfish puree is water insoluble so it will separate at the top of the pot... i pour the pot of water into a strainer and let sit for 2 hours... the puree will become gel like in room temperature... i then spread it over some fresh saltine crackers and enjoy with some various slices of cheese... i like the combination of blue cheese and starfish... but i have also used the combination of gouda and starfish which works quite well if blue cheese is not your cup of tea... enjoy

They ate Star Fish and they were invinsible and ran fast!!
So yes, i do recommend you to eat STAR FISH!!

no,because it had sting and maybe poison .even i have nightmare about it ,since that i never talk about it's with other people because it might came back into today's dream .......oh i'm so .....frust !
