Im about to be enlisting in the Air Force and need help picking out a fun job. I really like computers and would like to get a degree while I am in but I also dont wont to be stuck in one place. What kind of fun jobs are out there that allow you to travel or are there even any? I have took the asvab and the recruiter told me I am qualified for any job in the AF.

I really want to see different places. I have been in the same city for my whole life and am ready to get out. There are so many jobs to choose from and I want to make a good choice. So is there anyone in the AF that knows of a job that travels around to different places without being a crappy job. I dont want MP btw. I just want a fun job that deals with computers pref. If you can think of any like that then what job did you see while you were in that made you say "Man that would be a cool job to have."

Thanks

Your two goals are in direct conflict with each other.

You want to travel alot.
You want to work on computers.

You cannot do both at the same time.

The Air Force does not have mobile computer teams that travel around fixing computers.

Computer jobs :

2E2X1 - COMPUTER, NETWORK, SWITCHING AND CRYPTOGRAPHIC SYSTEMS

3C0X1 - COMMUNICATIONS - COMPUTER SYSTEMS OPERATIONS

3C0X2 - COMMUNICATIONS - COMPUTER SYSTEMS PROGRAMMING

3C2X1 - COMMUNICATIONS - COMPUTER SYSTEMS CONTROL

3C3X1 - COMMUNICATIONS - COMPUTER SYSTEMS PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION

.
Travel jobs :

1C4X1 - TACTICAL AIR COMMAND AND CONTROL

1A8X1 - AIRBORNE CRYPTOLOGIC LINGUIST

1A7X1 - AERIAL GUNNER

1A2X1 - AIRCRAFT LOADMASTER

1A1X1 - FLIGHT ENGINEER

1A0X1 - IN-FLIGHT REFUELING

If you want a fun job, consider maybe choosing to be an Intelligence Analyst. I totally love my job, I've gotten to travel extensively and everyday is something new. I've also operated and maintained some pretty cool systems out there. You get to play with computers, radios and be involved in some really cool things.
Another job that would fun, since you're into computers, would be any of the computer AFSCs (Air Force Specialty Code..your job code in normal language). The cool thing about that career field is the fact that you can get stationed just about any and everywhere, you can deploy a lot and you get to work on computer stuff all day.
Whatever you do, DO NOT go in open general. By going that route, the recruiter will say you can just pick your job when you get to basic training. If you wait until then to do it, the AF will pick for you (the fact they can do that is in the fine print) and they 99.9% of the time make you an MP..since you said you don't want that job specifically, pick before you go.
Hope this helps a little bit and I love the AF.

What ever you do, I'd say pick a Job that requires a Security Clearance.. I joined the AF when I was 17, right out of high school.. I picked 1N2X1 which is an intelligence job.. I got to do a lot of cool stuff and work on computers... I've been to Japan, Korea, and Alaska... and a few places here in the states... I've been out of 3 years now, and now I work at the Pentagon making pretty good $$$$. Your security clearance is pretty much like your education... it follows you after you get out of the military..

to be honest, you have the smallest chance of moving often/deploying/traveling with the AF. you can expect to be in the same spot your entire first term of enlistment.. in fact, Career AF are being told they are staying put for a MINIMUM of five years.

only YOU can decide what constitutes a 'crappy job'

the Navy offers many of the the exact same career fields as the AF does.. with the added advantage of being a sea faring service.. ships and subs travel..a lot. so even if you are home ported in Norfolk the entire time, you could still conceivably end up visiting places like Bahrain, Djibouti, Australia, Italy, etc.
