This only applies to public school cafeterias, as i used to go to a public school.
My favorites were:
I used to love the yellow burritto with corn on the cob,
Polish Sausage on a Flour Tortilla was also my favorite.
But my favorite treat was the Peanut Butter Candy!!
I would trade for my Peanut Butter Candy from school!! Anybody else did that aswell ?

And please exclude, junk food ,non-school food and Snack Bars.
oooooooooooh i forgot the SQUARED PIZZA, i would like it cuase it was diffrent from all the other pizzas. It was in a regtangle square and had little bits of Pepporroni.

Its funny how i never tasted the Mexican Pizza at my school. I guess this was in the 80s, and this pizza wasnt so commercialized yet.
Now for food that i hated!!! PLEASE mention the foods you hated the most.
I hated the crispy tacos, when i was a kid i used to detest that lunch plate. Anybody else had a plate on the black list?

I used to really like the chicken fried steak w/mashed potatoes and the country gravy. It was nastily delicious!

I am a director for food service in the public school system, and by far the most favorite meal today for the kiddos is chicken nuggetes with the potatoes and gravy. Thier least favorate is anything homemade. Todays kids are so used to fast food, if we make a cassarole or anything with more than 5 ingredients, they won't even try it.
As far as when I was a kid, I loved the homemade macaroni and cheese. It was always better than boxed.

The nachos and cheese and mexican pizza are my favs
The mexican pizza were made on a regular pizza crust with a taco meat mixture and some kind of special cheese.
I did not like their ready made sandwichs it tasted like they had made it days ago

I'm 34, and the only favorite food I can remember would have to be the tacos. I loooooved them. All my friends hated them. Our school only had a meal ticket, one punch and you got served what they made, but you could go back for seconds. I'd go for extra bars and desserts and trade my friends for their tacos, or when we were in line I'd tell them to ask for 2 tacos and I'd buy them a soda later.
The worst was the tuna noodle casserole. I still can't eat it to this day.

Our public schools did this Mexican pizza thing with cheese and beef. I still crave them to this day...

I loved the pizza, and we had really good spaghetti, and the no bake cookies. Yum!The ones made with oatmeal, peanut butter, and cocoa.

Taco Day because we got this big homemade cinnamon roll and I still haven't been able to find a recipe that compares.

at one of the schools i went to i loved the pizza it was sooooo good and they had these like 6 in soft chewy cookies that were awsome!!
then at another school they had really tasty chicken sandwhiches i still want one sometimes!! oh and curly fries mmmm
