way. Do European kids go through the same phase where they only want to disagree and don't care what the truth is?
I would really like to know.

not even in Italy I'm an American Catholic who lives in Italy but I'm bringing up my kids to be free to think what ever they want not even Italians much agree to what this pope has to say

I'm not sure that religion is so heavily a part of family life in Europe any more. This is in reference to Western Europe, in Spain and Italy it still does have influence.
In schools there is no for/against battle. Religion is taught, but not from a standpoint of 'this is the truth'. I have to say though, that, on the whole, secularism does have the upper hand.

Kids are the same the world over, they disagree just for the sake of it. Makes for an interesting life.
