Shouldn't followers' faith be an all-or-nothing affair? If you ask your God nicely, shouldn't it reciprocate your prayers with what you ask for?

I mean, if God has the time and resources to wipe a village off the map with a mudslide or take out several tens of thousands of people in an earthquake, one answer to a prayer shouldn't be *that* big a deal, should it?

It sounds like faith isn't all it's cracked up to be, since often the followers are the ones who end up cracked.

Touchy touchy, some of you! Go have a coffee and chill out or something. God inspires its followers to turn the other cheek, I suggest you do so. Be warned, though, I carry a spiked paddle and the tips are laced with GHB.

I agree - note the cop out in this passage that is a favorite of Christians
James 1:5-8

If you waiver then you don't get your answer. who's to say who waivers and who doesn't. You should get your answer if you're praying about your doubts, right?

God is wishy washy; mankind is; God does answers prayers in his time and his way; and in my experience, so much better than I could have imagined; each and every time ; faith is all it is cracked up to be especially when you reap the reward for just be faithful; it is like a parent who loves a child and gives them everything and anything that they can b/c of that love; a parent generally will pull back and not be as giving if a child is disrespecting you and giving you a tough time but still you love them; it is the same; mankind has chosen the hard way to do things; God doesn't cause the bad to happen but promises that he will be there for you if it does; it was by the hand of mankind that chooses the path ; if you leave room for God in your heart and life , you would see the difference ; you can't see love but you can feel it within your being sometimes to your very core; you can see the acts of love, a hug, a gesture etc but you can't see love but you know it exists b/c you feel it; you have the sunshine, water, food, beautiful colors, wonderful sounds; etc all signs of love from God that you can't see but know he exists b/c you can feel him within the core of your being, FAITH

Perhaps the concept that you have of God is not the same as mine. The idea of God sitting in heaven and zapping individuals or even villages seems to be old fashioned and unhelpful.
When we have a relationship with God and he is like a father to us, or she is like a mother to us, then we live with a power/force in our lives which helps us face life.
This morning I officiated at a funeral of a man who died as a result of a joy rider loosing control and crashing into his car. There was nothing he could have done about it. Talking to his widow, daughters and friends about it was difficult but I am quite sure I could never bring myself to say that God willed it. Rather I offered the view that all Christians, past, present and future would lend their support and we prayed together. I don't think that was wishy washy.

What if what we're asking is not reasonable? Then God, who supposedly loves us, would not want to grant such a wish.

Think of it, if you had a kid who likes the pretty color of a hot iron and wants to touch it, would you let it? The kid, just like will throw a tantrum saying you're mean because you won't let him/her touch the pretty red thing.

I'm personally not a believer, but if I were, according to the Bible our capacity of understanding cannot be compared to God's. Therefore God may have very well "answered" you, but you didn't understand said answer.

He's not wishy-washy. He loves all of us. The method of how we return to him (ie--mudslide) is not relevant.

Sorry these folks have been so rude to you. It's amazing, isn't it, how nasty some people can be for no reason?

Don't have a coffee to chill out--have a popsicle

I see you have opinions about what God should or should not do. Isn't this stretching your importance just a little? Well, the answer to your question is in a place where you are unlikely to look.

Why exactly would a person have the upper hand (or at least equal footing) with barganing with God?

"Shouldn't followers' faith be an all-or-nothing affair? If you ask your God nicely, shouldn't it reciprocate your prayers with what you ask for?"

Pretty dumb a55 idea if you ask me.

God is not wishy washy. If you look at his track record, he is positively psycho.

What you just stated is a perfect example of why "god" does not exist.
