What metal fabrication is....?

The only definition I can think of would be:

Taking two peices of metal and forming one. Is that correct?

Metal fabrication could refer to the working of metal into a useful object, which would include your definition, or perhaps even the isolation of a pure metal from its ores by chemical processes.

It's basically making things out of metal. Fabrication could take place on a single piec, like taking a piece of sheet metal and making part of a car body, or on multiple pieces, like welding the car frame together.

Joining two pieces of metal is called welding, brazing, or soldering, depending on what material is used to bond the pieces together. More generally, fabrication is changing the shape of a metal.
