Yes, they do. I don't do that because I don't want the mess on my oven rack.....can always protect the bottom of the oven, but it's the racks that are a pain to clean. I've thought of going to a used appliance store and getting a used rack to fit my oven to use for that purpose. For now I just opt for "not-so-crisp" crust and use a pizza pan.

We love our pizza stone. It's dark brown and unsightly after three years of cheese, oil and sauce dripping onto it, but we just scrape it clean and rinse (no soap) and we store it in the oven unless we need that rack and it can go into the storage drawer below the oven.
Pizza turns out crispy and good! A much better investment than, say, new racks for the oven.

Yes, it makes the crust a lot crispier and doesn't make a mess. Sometimes the cheese might get stuck to the rack, but that isn't a big deal. If you don't want to stick it on the rack then get a pizza pan with the holes on the bottem.

You know what really works good for this?
have you ever seen the fancy grid like cooling racks for cookies? turn one upside down and put your pizza on it.it keeps your stuff from falling into the oven but at the same time you get the results of the crust being exposed for crispiness.

yes it actually works but have a pizza pan to slide it back on. You can use a pizza pan It won't be as crispy of a crust. personally I have 2 in my house that prefers the crunchy crust but the rest likes it a bit softer. so when I make them I have to do it both ways. however there are pizza pans that have holes on the bottem that works just as well as on the oven rack method.

sure, some people line the bottom of the oven with aluminum foil to catch the cheese that falls through, but I would recommend getting the pizza pan with the holes in the bottom. cooks the crust nicely but catches the cheese that drips off the edges

Get a Presto Pizzazz!!! It's the thing that cooks your pizza out in the open. I was skeptical, but recieved it last X-mas, and I love it! No more mess in my oven, and the pizza turns out perfect. It can cook top and bottom at one time, or you can customize it to cook either the top or bottom separately. You should invest in one. They are about 30-40 dollars but worth it.

They say to put it there if you want a crunchy crust. You can also have it crusty if you use a pan. My husband puts it on the rack and it makes a mess. If you want, just put it on some foil.

LOL I'm with you! Who wants a crust THAT crispy? And an oven w/ cheese drips all over it?
I use a baking stone.

yes, it is the only way to have a crispy bottom crust
spray rack with pam or other non stick spray
you can line your oven with foil as long as you don't cover the vents
