I care about the Bible because it is the written Word of God. I read only the King James Version because it is not copyrighted or bound by man. God made sure King James did what God asked.

Check out the Bible prophecy. The prophets in the Bible have never been wrong. What a track record. Many men wish they had the prophets records of whatever they said is accurate. But, then, the Bible says that God does nothing until He tells His prophets first. Prophets speak what God tells them to speak. For this reason, the prophesies all come true.

Read the Book of Daniel and then read the Book of Revelation and watch prophecy come true before your very eyes. If you get interested, go on to read Ezekiel and Isaiah.
All great prophets who prophesied the latter days just before the return of Christ Jesus.

It is truth regardless of how man interprets it. God said to read His Word, you must read "line upon line, precept upon precept and here a little and there a little." If you are interested in just one subject, get you a concordance and read about everything concerning that one subject. Ask the Holy Spirit to make the Word known to you.

You will be judged by this book that you call names. The Bible is called the Word of God. John said, "in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." Jesus and the Holy Spirit were with God in the beginning. That is why God said, "let us make man in our image." The only One with an image was Jesus. The Bible also says, "God is Spirit and consuming fire." Man limits God and God cannot be limited.

All things are a matter of interpretation, even scientific observations - every point of view is by definition subjective. Just like in other fields like history and neurology we then try to find ways in which to adjudicate who's perspective is most reasonable. Sometimes there is an impasse and you get different schools of thought within a field. For example, among scientists there is disagreement whether evolution can result in a new species (an extrapolated theory for which the archaeological evidence is non-existent) or only the changing of one species (which is supported by the evidence) - obviously a crucial distincton.

Why do some people care about the content of Playboy Mag or their neighbor's garbage? Or, for that matter, Your insulting question.

I appreciate all the funny answers that take the sting out of this.

It's not a matter of interpretation, it's a matter of understanding. No one understands everything instantly.

Edit: Goodness no. I don't mean to imply that. I don't believe ANY one denomination has it all together, and I don't think every person within a denomination has the same specific beliefs and understandings either. Each individual is so unique no matter what denomination they are.. No two people believe the exact same thing in the exact same way. And Christianity isn't about everyone having it all together.. It's about Jesus having it all together for us.

like any other literary work of the period it serves as a historical record of how people believed and lived 2000+ years ago. its impact on western culture is a discipline all to itself.

beyond that...well its no more useful than any other book.
