I am not sure about the proportion who do this but in my experience they are people who come to Christianity seeking some kind of certainty. That didn't work for me nor for many people I know. Reading the bible daily means that you are continually being challenged and grapple with difficult issues
The bible gives us Christians wonderful insights into our Lord who is the Word of God. But it isn't an easy read. Maybe those who 'treat it like they do a burger at McDonalds' don't want to be disturbed.

If they didn't, half the women population would be stoned to death. Actually, half the population.

The case law lesson of a blasphemer being stoned to death, and other applications of the death penalty (Leviticus 24:10-23), including anyone having "a familiar ghost or spirit", a child insulting its parents (Leviticus 20), and a special case for prostitution (burning them alive) (Leviticus 21)

third of all: if you read the four gospels and then read the ACTS, you will find it very interesting.

YES they do and its WRONG today Christians are just living for themselves and not for GOD and they adopt the parts of scripture that they want that fit in their lives. Instead of molding thier lives around the BIBLE they mold the BIble around their lives!!!!!!

I think I have to agree with ricnoodle's answer. Majority of Christians skip over the main sustenance (meat and potatoes) and go straight for the dessert.

(excellent metaphor you have there btw.)

It would seem that way. Just look at the way most x-tians act. They preach all day, then break their rules at night, and go to church to make it all better.

I am actually guilty of that. I am not proud, but I'm being honest.

I think that is why you will never hearing me judge another question or belief....
