1 AK 47 and 50 rounds per male. that is it. They can carry it around with them if they have a permit. No permit it stays in the house

Actually was common after the war, then the U.S. officials started taking them up and violence got worse so they started allowing them to have them again. So yes and there is an "allowance" of one AK-47 per household male, I think pistols and other semi aoutomatice or bolt actions rifles are not limitted and no requirement they do have them. In Afganistan I don't think there is any set limit but that is a cultural thing that goes back forever. Iraq was having a bigger problem with "common criminals" and some of the looser terrorist after the U.S. started taking weapons away and so the decision was made to return them and those two areas died down-want to break into a house and threaten a family when them and there neighbors are as well armed as you are? Been more then one report of people fighting off or resisting an attempted take over of a village or neighbor hood by terrorist or criminals; that is why they have weapons-they can defend themselves.

Yes, owning weapons was allowed even during Saddam Hussein's reign. There were something like 50 guns stores in Baghdad before the invasion by the USA.

so much for a 'well-regulated militia" against a modern trained army.

Its true and always has been true and i believe it will always be true, before i think they were able to have as many weapons per household they wanted, but now they are only allowed to have one weapon per household.

In Iraq they don't have fireworks, so they fire weapons in celebration. That's why most adult males will have a side-arm.
