Hi
Does anybody know what can be done if somebody's application is rejected for the indefinite leave to remain on the basis of marriage apart from apeal? I mean what other options are available? Thanks

Work and present the certificate of employment to justify the stay in the country.

From the terminology used I assume that you are in the UK and not the US.
If you have fulfilled the criteria of your marriage visa then you should appeal.
You could be missing something in your application or BIA do not believe that you are in a subsisting marriage, the letter sent would explain the missing documentation if it is that simple. So look again at the information you supplied. Your employment has nothing to do with your application so don't waste time on that.
What is in your passport now?
If you claim asylum now there would be a question over the validity of your claim. You have had plenty of opportunity to claim in the past so exactly what would be the basis of your claim now? Where would the fear suddenly have come from? You could find yourself fast-tracked and refused very quickly.

Edit: I have just looked at your other posts and it indicates that you are not in-country. To get ILR you must be in the UK. Remain is the key word. You need to apply for the correct settlement visa if you are married to a Briish Citizen and intend to settle in the UK.

An appeal is the best option.

I assume you don't have an independent reason to be in the UK? No work permit, etc?

try for refugee status =

owing to a well-founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group, or political opinion, is outside the country of their nationality, and is unable to or, owing to such fear, is unwilling to avail him/herself of the protection of that country.

fear of reprisals
fear of unfair trial

good luck

IF YOU ARE STILL MARRIED TO A BRITISH NATIONAL, THEY WILL NOT REJECT YOUR APPLICATION.
