what would you do?
i stayed over last night at my bf's house
he left already to school (he is a teacher)
i'm ready to go to work, but oh i cant find the car keys
i just remembered he used the car last night so im pretty sure he still has the keys in his jacket
i already looked and looked in the house and nothing
he doesnt has a cell phone
i HATE be late for work...
the taxis are way to expensive in Long island
what should i do ?? what should i say to my boss??

Do whatever it takes to get to work.
Call a friend, pay for the taxi, or take
the bus. Call your boss and tell the
truth and that you will be there but
late because of the lost keys. Your
boss may even have another employee
that is near by that could pick you up on
their way into work. Call his work and
leave a message for your boyfriend that
you are missing your keys and believe he
may have them in his jacket pocket.
Unfortunately it may cost you more to
get to work this time, but it is a lot better
than losing a days worth of wages. Plus
if your boss finds out you did not go to
work because you could not find your
keys, he might view this as not being
very responsible.

1. Call the office, explain to him that you might be late because you're having car troubles and you're waiting on a tow truck. Sounds better than hey I lost my keys at my BFs house.
2. Ask your man to bring your keys back. Or see if you can get a ride to your house to get your spare key.
3. Consider public transportation, bus, train etc then have your man pick you up.
4. Ask a friend for a ride.
Shouldn't you be working on getting to work instead of posting questions online.
5. Or just call out sick and write it off as a loss because you were a little silly.
6. Keep up with your keys. Stop acting like my fiance leaving your keys everywhere!

Call your boss and tell him what happened. Honesty is the best policy and it will make you look good in your boss's eyes. Get a cab to the school if it is closer than work, get the keys and come back. Then drive to work. If not, basically you are going to have to pony up the cash to take a cab to work. don't worry about the money it costs. What's worse? Spend $40 today and get to work and keep your job so you can make money tomorrow? Or keep the $40, miss work, get fired, and not work for three weeks while you find a job and only have $40 to your name?

Um??? First off, why are you on yahoo q&a if your trying to figure a way to get to work? You didn't call the school yet? Well, Hello, call the school and have them page your boyfriend to the phone, and ask him to bring the keys back!!! It doesn't take Einstein to come up with that!!! As for your boss, tell your boss that you can't get to work, because your boyfriend mistakenly took your car keys...
I don't mean to sound rude or anything, but cm-on now, use your brain, bone head!!!

You have 4 choices:
1- Taxi! No matter how much it costs, suck it up and call one.
2- Bus and trains. Friends (carpool). Get moving now.
3- Call you bf and ask him to come back with the keys.
4- Call out sick.

Sounds like you may have to take a taxi even though they are expensive. It will be the only way not to be late for work.

You'll have to go to a neighbor's house and use their phone and have your b/f pick you up and call your boss and tell him what happened. Or you could call a locksmith.This is why it is important to have a spare set of keys.

Phone work. Explain lost keys. Apologise, say you're on your way and catch bus. Is it possible to phone bf's school, leave message, asking him to check pockets? Then at least you'd know. Hope this helps.

A similar thing happened to me not long back.....my fiance locked me in the house when he went to work. Only, he had my house keys in his pocket too. So I was stuck in the house all day. Good excuse to watch daytime tv and browse the net ha! x

Bite the bullet and take the bus if cabs are to expensive.
Tell your boss the truth, as if you tell 1 lie today, you will have to tell 2 tomorrow to cover for the one today.
