I hold grudges as well. It takes allot for me to get to this place but when I do it will take years for the person to ever redeem themselves....years. This is with family members or friends. If a person apologizes or explains themselves I am able to much more easily get past the issue. However there are those times when you really can't approach a person about what they did.......It's difficult with my mother in law for example. I'm not going to confront her about things she does....those things just go unmentioned but ohhh they pile up and make her a nasty. Some things she has said or done just don't need an explanation and any reasoning I can find for her doesn't do things justice.
In terms of associates and people I don't know very well. I don't hold a grudge but my trust is not there with them to becoming closer with me. I keep these people at a distance.

A grudge is an negative and soul-destroying attitude of revenge which you'd like to turn into action. It eats away at you and has the potential to turn you into a miserable, unhappy person.
It's impossible to forget the wrongs done to you. It's part of your memory and the past is what makes you the person you are today. Forgive? No you don't have to forgive either, but you might like to think about what made the other person act the way they did.
You don't have to forgive nor forget, but hold your head high and don't let grudges and resentment ruin you.

I let it go, and keep the lessons of the past, so I don't repeat the same mistake... life is to short to hold grudges.
If someone has made a mistake, it's forgiven, if someone has done something deliberately hurtful, I drop them from my life, and go on, without holding a grudge. I put them in the past.

we might not forget some bad cos we have memories but its good to forgive when you do you find a rest of mind with the person you feel free like nothing had happen but keeping grudge only stuff you up. if the person keeps repeating the same thing all the time or often just stay away from them.

I'm the same. Depends on what I'm mad about. If a friend offended me, but didn't mean to, I forget about it.
On the other hand, if it's a serious, deliberate thing, I never forget. I could tell you the names of which ex-boyfriends cheated on me, who with, when, and how many times! A few instances were forgiven, but never forgotten. Some were never forgiven or forgotten!
If someone has made me believe they were a true-blue friend, the kind I would lay my life down for, then I find out they were playing me or using me to get something, that I cannot forgive, and will never forget!
I kind of got tricked into giving my 13-acre farm and home away for nothing like that! I would sincerely like to reenact the shower scene from Psycho on that b*tch!

You can't get to Heaven holding grudges. Just accept it as a lesson learned and don't let someone get to you that bad again.

I have been told that to hold a grudge only hurts yourself, forgive but do not forget.
I am working on that concept. Of course, every day I am a work in progress. lol

gee i try not to hold grudges but growing up in the Italian family I did, it is difficult to not hold a grudge, but I was told once that hate and grudges only hurt one person, to consume yourself with hate is only hurting yourself....

It ok not to forget but you have to forgive so that you can go on with your life. If you forget than you dont learn from your past and its bound to repeat itself
