Some say it is the 20 million dead Russians who won WW2, and Americans did only join after the Germans started losing to the Russians.

You only joined after we had to morgage half our country. Hitler wouldn't of have invaded England until he had invaded Russia, and he was losing badly there.

I don't think we need to thank them but the Russians gave up more than any other country during that war.
But when two evil dictators fight a bloody war, you should let them.

I will concede that the Russians carried the brunt of fighting in World War Two but it had absolutely nothing to do with "saving" the Americans. I could point out that had Stalin not agreed not to attack Germany or go to war with them , for which he as paid off by splitting Poland with the Germans in 1939, people forget that the Russians attacked Poland in 1939 in conjunction with the Germans and had already agreed on a division of the country (they acted as informal allies of Hitler in 1939) and instead had used the threat to go to war with Germany if they attacked Poland Hitler would have never attacked it and the war gotten started. Russia went to war with Germany only after the Germans attacked Russia and prior to the United States entering the war after Pearl Harbor. The victory in World War Two was largely due to he Russian military which had large support from the Unitied States in aircraft and transportation, some weapons but it was a self-serving action by Russia to sign a non-aggression treaty with Germany which allowed Hitler to finish off western Europe after splitting Poland with Russia and they only went to war when the Germans broke the treaty and attacked Russia. I could say that Russia was as responsible for World War Two starting as the Germans since the political (communist leadership) signed the non-aggression treaty and the political (communist) leadership was largely responsible for the huge losses in Russian troops and territory after the Germans attacked because of Stalin destroying the leadership of the Russian military and assigning offices based on politican strength rather then military. Where was GEN Zhukov when the Germans attacked? I think the answer is a gulag in Siberia as were many other career officers who had been replaced by incompetent communist officers.

Your basic understanding of WW2 History needs to be upgraded troll.
seeing as America was in no real danger of being invaded by the Japanese or Germans, and they never came under any Axis bombing campaign in the USA, they became the biggest Allied Military supplier, even old Joe Stalin had to swallow his bile against the capitalists and ask for their help-
1. by asking for supplies of war material.
2 by asking them to open a Second Front to take the pressure of his troops.
So did the Russian Communists thank the USA?
You give salutations and thanks, to your Saviour's not ask them, for them !!
With regards Japan your ignorance is astounding, I can only put it down to your Labour government educational system*!!
Japan posed a very serious danger to the entire of Asia, do you know how many countries they managed to take over in their military campaigns?
* if you are British, or your Communist Brainwashing if a member of Putinland, home of Tsar KGB Putin, he of the Putinist Party.

Maybe if they had saved us we would thank them, but everyone, even the old Soviets knew who saved whom. Hell, those commie rats even cut a deal with Japan while we were giving them lend lease and a second front. I studied and did my Masters Thesis on WW2. I came to the conclusion that we should have offered to take all the jews off Hitler's ahnds thus avoiding thye holocaust, then we should have fought with Hitler against the Soviet Union. Hitler could have been taken out later an a more sane German leader put into place later. Would have saved the world over 50 extra years of commie hell.

You can thank America for providing a great deal of equipment and supplies to the Soviet military. You can thank American air power for crushing the German military, without it they would have maintained superior equipment and Soviet soldiers wouldn't have stood much of a chance in the long run. You can thank your cold winters for the Germans having so much trouble in Russia, the cold was harder on the Germans than the military was. As far as the deaths your country suffered you can blame Stalin for a lot more of them than you can blame on Hitler. Ever read about much of that in your history books? I do appreciate the sacrifices of the Soldiers who fought from your country. They didn't win anything alone, they merely did their part. One thing they did a lot more of than Americans was commit atrocities on civilians, just as the Germans did before them.

the number of casualties is not an objective measure to the war effort done. the russian casualties would be much lower if the russian generals were not using troops like the cannon fodder.

I guess you never read the history of WW2, a large portion of the USSR's arms came from the U.S. Lots of Merchant Marines died hauling stuff over to them (look up lend-lease is you are interested). Germany was never a direct threat to the U.S. and he USSR did literally nothing to help us in the Pacific. If anything the Communists should have been thanking us.
