My mother in law is going through a rough patch having her second lot of cancer in 8 years. She has just started Chemo and I was wondering if anyone knows what the limitations of beauty treatments Chemo patients can take? Im a nail technician and have found when I even put on her polish for her she is soooo sensitive! Wat to do?

Some beauty treatments should be suspended during chemo. I wasn't to have any pedicures done aside from the normal cut my own toenails thing. The risk is that minute cuts in the skin (from cuticle treatments, pumice stone, etc) might introduce infection. Also, I found that a small cut on my lower legs/feet took a really long time to heal in general and cosmetically I look beat up down there all the time!
My sister advised that massages should be avoided during chemo (she's a physical therapist) for a number of reasons.
Some kinds of chemo make physical touch very uncomfortable. For some reason, nerves in the skin and muscles become very sensitive so even applying lotion and moisturizers can be uncomfortable at times.

During my treatment I had good days and bad days. Hopefully you can be around on the few good days to do something basic like rubbing a non-perfumed, really nice moisturizer on feet and hands.

Alot of things bother you when you are taking chemo. Some foods will almost make you sick to smell them. A good foot massage will make a world of difference. Even a good old back rub. But keep all the odors of cleaners, anything that has a normal strong odor away from her. Just being there and having someone to talk to helps. If she doest want to talk about her condition, talk about what you normally talk about. Be as normal as you can. Hope she will do well with her treatments. God Bless!

the cemo is not only killing her cancer cells but also white blood cells and her immune system is down thats why she is so sensitive to nail polish. she needs to boost her immune system. there is a supplement that is called transfer factor plus that will boost her immune system up to 437% and help kill cancer cells up to 99% with 12 caps daily for 3 months.

Other than the smell, I don't know what the issue could be. Strong smells are very offensive. Why don't you ask her what part of you doing that is difficult for her? It is a fair question.
