High school diploma will get you farther faster. GED, will be easier to get though.

The GED. It's tough if you don't prepare, but it's quick to get with excellent preparation, at least 95% of U.S. universities will accept it, all community colleges do (then it becomes irrelevant to the 4 year universities that don't accept it in the first instance) and a High School Diploma is boring and takes a long time to get, and can be more expensive.

Sit back at home, prepare for the GED, and don't bother going back to boring classrooms with boring, useless lessons or an online H.S. Diploma that costs a fortune.

McGraw Hill's books on the GED
Do the authentic practice examinations to identify your weak areas, because you must pass all tests at a certain level.

Don't delude yourself that the GED is very easy, however. The figures vary, but from year to year 30% to 60% of graduating H.S. seniors cannot pass the GED battery of examinations, and out of more than 700,000 GED candidates each year, just slightly more than 50% pass. (Again it varies from year to year and you can get the statistics from the A.C.E., but it gives you an idea). So identify your weakest areas and prepare well. The test most often failed is the mathematics test, even though it doesn't cover all the mathematics done at the H.S. level. It's a tough test for the unprepared.

Best wishes to you! I'm in Australia and I'm preparing for the GED battery so I can take a degree online with a good U.S. university (SUNY Empire State College).

Further, I should note that not all H.S. Diplomas are equivalent, but all GEDs are. Employers value people who can pass the GED, especially if they do very well. Check out the Wikipedia page on celebrities who have taken the GED. Some of them are really smart people who have achieved great things.

GED is a lot less work to get.if your just getting one because some jobs require at least that.then go for it.but it will be tough to get that job if a guy walks in and applies and he has the high school diploma.they will more than likely give it to him/her.
