I have always given my supervisor a Christmas gift. If I buy it, I usually spend about $25. If I paint him something (I am a hobby artist) it would probably be worth more than that. I also usually give my hairdresser $25 - $50 cash each year. Coincidentally, these two are now married to each other.

Should I give them separate gifts, or should I give them one gift of higher value? I was thinking maybe a $50 gift card to a restaurant I know they like.

(Please no comments on the general idea of gift cards...I know some people hate them in principle. I am really only interested in answers to the combined/separate question.)

Separate gifts, they do separate jobs with / for you.

Two separate gifts. The two type of gifts you are giving are different from each other one is a boss the other is your hairdresser. Although they are married to each other each should be separate because the reason you are giving the gift is separate. You are not giving a gift because it's your brother in law and sister it's because of the service you received and it's your boss. If this year you give a $50 gift card then you decide that your switching hairdressers then what....or your hairdresser quits or the boss quits. If you want to give one large for both then get two separate gift cards to give each but at the same restaurant or place of buisness.

Did you give them a wedding gift? Are you close enough to acknowledge the fact that they are married? If your gift-giving is less friendship and more of a professional courtesy, then stick with the separate gifts.
This is just a personal opinion thing, but it seems to me that when people have been married a while, everything is a "couple's" gift. It might make them feel good to get a gift as a person and not as a couple. Especially when it is a gift that shows your grattitude for the work they do.

It really depends on how close you are to each of them. If you feel a professional obligation to give them a gift for Christmas, then it should be separate gifts. If you feel you have more of a friendship than any professional realtionship, then a couple's gift is perfect.

Can you paint the two of them together copied from previous pics? Give them just one gift like couple's gift certificate for 2 to a spa.

Restaurant gift card is an excellent idea. We love getting these.

That way they get a gift and share time with each other.

You can give them a joint gift if you prefer, since they are now a couple. I wouldn't go nuts trying to make it exactly twice what you would usually pay . . . it's just a Christmas gift, ok? Don't sweat the small stuff.
