Because X is the international alphabetical letter for mystery.
"X" marks the spot was originally used on pirate treasure maps, which are generally mysterious and unknown in nature. "X" gives light to the truth.

That is because X is so much easier to cut and the centre of the X is deemed to be the spot you dig. The W is harder to cut and make it look symmetrical. At which point of the W do you dig?

particular. that's perfect there in my front backyard the place Animal administration have been given my associates canines. I miss those Beavous and Butthead cartoons. They jogged my memory of my nephews who acted only like that. They have been humorous.
