Just asking cause I was just wanting to know why. That applies to all monotheist religions in general.

The women were too busy doing the real thinking.

Good Question. The answer is not the GOD, but the men and the culture.

From your question, I think you are a muslim. Cool. I am a Christian and Jesus never denays a position for the women, but in general the human origin is defined as woman came from man. In life style of those days, men lead women in all means.

In Islam, men are considered the saviours of women. If you see the life style, women were treated like assets to be protected and this gave light to Muslim marrying many women to protect / support them.

Both the above are men centered religions. Now come to Hinduism the third biggest religion in the world. Here every thing is women centered. Origin of the universe is from Shakthi, which is a form of a female. Also they have equal rights for women in the religious norms.

Now coming to your question, I once again reinstate, it is not that GOD allows or dis allows. But the men, leaders and the life style defines what is suitable to the land / culture / trade / economy of the group that is addressed to. If you strip down such social constraints, the GOD keeps equal proportions for both men & women. But the social systems redifine them.

To tell you in blind. Follow your system and that is the BEST for you.

In order for a religion to survive it has to conform to the standards and culture of the society in which it lives.

E.g. Jesus said a lot of stuff that annoyed the Jews or whoever was ruling at the time hence he got crucified. (As it happened, he become a martyr and the cult got stronger, but that's beside the point.)

Similarly if someone had suggested that women be given equal status to men, he or she would have been laughed out of town. Like the above poster stated, women had the same status as lamp posts.

Maybe "God" did allow women to be prophets but noone was intelligent enough to listen to them?

Someone already pointed out Deborah, there are also Huldah (2Kings 22:14ff) and the daughters of Phillip (Acts 21:8).

In Acts 2:17-18, Peter quotes from Joel 2 “In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Holy Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy.
Your young men will see visions.
Your old men will have dreams.

In those days I will pour out my Spirit
even on those who serve me, both men and women.
When I do, they will prophesy.”

Luke 8 lists several women WHO BANKROLLED JESUS' MINISTRY. The TRUTH is that though the culture of his day placed little value on them, Jesus is recorded to have publicly talked to 2 GENTILE women - (John 4 & Mark 7). MOST Jewish men would not talk to a woman in public, and NEVER to a foreign woman. He spoke publicly to several other women as well (Matthew 9:22, Luke 7:13 & 48 to name a few).
Jesus' ministry was a welcome "breath of fresh air" to many women of his day. The value he placed on them didn't always filter down to his followers, but he still managed to improve the lives of many women.

it only sais that in "your book" read the history, look outside the box. you have been told filtered information. truth is women were considered and mentioned prophets- the book or bible is filtered and taken with a grain of salt reiderated to focus more on the men.

Perhaps he did allow it, but the males in the world silenced them early on, before they could make an impact or become known. Like Jesus was silenced, but not soon enough to prevent the impact.

It's so sad that you think "god" wrote the bible.

Maybe women aren't in the prophet stories because the men who wrote the bible couldn't let a woman be as smart as they are.

It would be almost as bad as letting us vote!!
