I'm really intrigued by documentaries and shows that educate you on the science of fighting. Human weapon is where two fighters travel the world learning about the various Martial Arts. Fight Science was a show that taught how knockouts work, etc.

Are there any other shows that will teach you how a knockout works? Or submissions? Or how to defend yourself? Anything related to fighting that involves showing you proven (and sometimes even, scientific) methods to show you how something works?

Thanks for any replies, I really appreciate it!

If I recall correctly, both shows were pitched to both The History Channel and The Discovery channel by the same guy, which would explain the vast similarities. However I have noticed a few differences. For example, Human Weapon has the hosts travel to different regions of the country to learn a few key moves from various instructors for five days before competing at the end. Alternatively, Fight Quest has the two hosts split up, each hosts joins an instructors camp and trains there exclusively in all aspects of the art until they fight at the end. In the Kung-Fu episode for example, the Human Weapon hosts learned four or five moves from different instructors before competing in the San Da match. Fight Quest had the hosts fall into the designated instructor's school and learn different aspects of Kung-Fu, from internal mediation, fighting techniques, weapons (staff), and then fight in the San Da match at the end. Also Fight Quest doesn't pull any of the weird analogies on the attacks like "this blow generates the same force as getting struck in the head with a sledgehammer." As for my opinions on the shows, I think that Jason and Bill have more charisma, but Fight Quest looks like a more interesting show. I'll certainly be watching both, but if I had to only choose one it would be Fight Quest.

ya, first poster is right... besides that.. I have found that if you search youtube or the web for fighting practice/techniques.. there are a lot of good short videos that show you how to do a move correctly, or how to train correctly... really interesting. try searching youtube for like "high roundhouse technique" or something... its cool
