trish, yes I noticed that guy saying he will be dead so he does not care. I care about the UK and I think mass immigration is ruining it.

I have made this point many times before but can we please stop saying that Migrationwatch forecasts are wrong. I have pointed out before that Migrationwatch assumptions are often below the Government Actuarys Department high migration variant. (29 July 2003)
An internal Home Office email they were obliged to release to MigrationWatch

The HOME OFFICE APOLOGISED and attempted to get people to stop saying population estimates where exaggerated, this does not prevent Yahoo Answers deniers from doing just that. Here is the apology below:

According to all the organisations who analyse this 110 million could be an underestimate, it is at least a reasonable estimate
It is obvious that it is a collection of supporters of immigration who attempt to deny this, they should stop using their favourite word (drivel) and give some real evidence to the contrary

We don't need to be ready for something that won't happen until 2081 (and almost certainly not even then).
Please understand this is a WORST CASE SCENARIO.
The NAO issued their initial prediction (70 million by 2081) and were then asked what the highest and lowest estimates were. The highest estimate they could possibly come up with, assuming we all live longer and have more babies, and immigration INCREASES from where it is now, resulted in the 110m figure. The opposite end of the same calculation gave an increase of only 4m over 70-odd years.
Even this 110m figure equates to a population increase of only 1% per year, which is less than the average rate for the world as a whole.

It doesnt work like that. Great Britain is a big bunch of islands and we have cities dispersed all over the place. but there is more built up areas in the south east than anywhere else so you could not really have an accurate representation. Birmingham is in the centre of England and Glasgow in Scotland, There is big cities in the Northwest i.e. Liverpool and Manchester, The North East i.e. Newcastle, Southeast: London, which is by a long way the biggest city, In the South West its smaller cities like Plymouth and Exeter, also Wales has its main cities in the south of the Principality. Northern Ireland has Belfast but its over the water. So there you have it, but if i was to answer the question as you said it, it would be the area from Liverpool over the M62 corridor to the east coast where you have Liverpool, Manchester, Bradford, Leeds, Hull and countless other smaller towns and cities, also sheffield and nottingham and birmingham not too far away.

There is an organisation called The Optimum Population Trust, I would urge everyone to have a look at their website:
http://www.optimumpopulation.org/index.html
They are saying that all governments should consider 'optimum population policies' as a global necessity. This goes beyond a single country thinking that it can control its population increase simply by limiting immigration into that country, because there are other factors such as natural growth through the birth rate. You will also find even so that their projected figures are lower than those from the Sunday Mirror.

Well considering how big the UK is of course not, we cannot support the people we have now, either economically or physically, we should stop all further immigration now.
What this government and probably previous ones haven't understood, or don't want to, is that the reason for the indigenous people leaving, as people on this site can attest to, is the way they are being treated. They are being shunted to the back of the queue in so many ways, local councils, the police force, social services all say the same thing, that there is just not enough money to support more people. And the latest nonsense along with all the others is the police having to learn Polish in some places because they have to deal with Polish criminals who can't speak English. It beggars belief that we should be considering more millions pouring into this tiny island. I have always been liberal in my attitude towards different peoples, but i really feel like a fish out of water in my own country.

No Mike we are not! But if it goes on like this Britain will definately get it. Every month or so the estimate seems to go up, and I believe even the latest figure is low!
Can you believe the selfishness of some people like the person who answered that he/she doesn't care because they will be dead by then. What about their families? obviously they have no children, maybe if they did they would care more about the future we are leaving for them.
We need action to prevent this catastrophy and we just don't get it. All we get is more talk!

The figures are projections based on "worst case scenarios" to aid contingency planning. A lot can happen to change such statistical predictions in the given time span.
As the NAO themselves state:
"Projections are uncertain and become increasingly so the further they are carried forward. For this reason, variant population projections have also been produced to show what could happen in situations of higher and lower levels of fertility, mortality and migration."

We are building on flood plains and our last breathing space the green belt is under threat. Still self deniers pretend we are not packed full. 30,000, 000 is the maximum population for the UK , we now have twice that 60,000,000. We only support 60 million because we have foreign investments to enable this and this is very insecure.

Of course we are. There is much land as yet undeveloped around the countryside. Most MPs have a farmhouse and two or three other houses (we pay for) that could be given over. We could send a cruise liner or two every week to the third world to assist transport all the criminals they dont want to come to the UK at no cost. We should now be stopping the pretence that we are a Sovereign Nation and have acceded to Europe where we dance to their tune. We are living in a Post Christian society, that in a few score years will be a Muslim State. We have been led blindfold into it over the past 40 years by weak minded pinko politicians who have just been out to line their own pockets. Accept the doubling of the UK population. It will happen. There is nothing we can do about it and nothing our politicians want to do about it. I only wish I was young enough to get out of it to somewhere like NZ or Australia.

Britain is largely empty, despite what the right-wing media says! Population has increased over the past few years because of new EU member states. But you have to remember a) most immigrants will only stay here long enough to make enough money to live a decent life at home b) it's not every year the EU adds more countries!
But of course THE USUAL RACISTS here will always see a glass as half empty. What is so funny is the BRAINDEAD IDIOTS who whinge about immigrants, and then say they're moving to Australia, New Zealand, etc - ie becoming immigrants themselves!
