Yes, it works.

Passport is a document issued by your home country that you need to travel to countries outside of Mexico.

The US used to allow Mexicans into their country without a passport, so you did not need it before.

But all other countries will ask for your passport and sometimes a visa. The Schengen countries in Europe for example are visa-free for Mexican citizens who come as tourists.

A passport works anywhere in the world. However, sometimes you cannot simply use your passport to gain entry into a country. You must get permission from that country in order to enter. The document that grants you permission to enter any country is called a "visa".

Each country has different rules regarding visas and citizenship. For instance, since Thailand and the U.S. are on friendly terms, a person with a U.S. passport can show up in Thailand without a visa, and simply buy one at the Thai airport.

But in order for someone from the U.S. to go to China, they must first get a visa from the Chinese embassy in the United States.

Most countries have several different types of visas depending on how long you want to stay. For example, tourist visas may let you stay for 10-60 days, and you cannot work while you are there. Work visas may let you stay for a year, and work while you are there.

If you want to travel, check the website for the embassy of the country you want to go to, and find out what the visa requirements are for Mexican citizens.

for all american's with passports issued by the united states, you are allowed to travel almost anywhere you please without a visa. You can just get up and go but make sure you ALWAYS have it on you

With some countries you will need a visa while others you will not. It will depend on the country you are going to. The best bet is to look at the Consulate's web page that you are going to go to.
