You're going to compare science with the bible? Oh boy.

Human life, yes, there is good evidence of this - and actually, Eden would have been in modern day Iraq, so not that far from Africa.

All life, no, best evidence is that the earliest life forms would have begun at what is now the bottom of the oceans in a primeaval mud, long before any of the land masses we recognise today had been formed. Unfortunately, the writers of the bible had no concept of this, so the bible can't really be any kind of source to plot the origin of all life on Earth.

It is a human history - specifically of the Jewish lineage. There were other people around at the same time as and before the writing of the bible - as the old testament and Jewish books state. If you believe in these religions, you should openly accept that there is a world history that predates the bible.

Chinese, Egyptian and Australian Aboriginal histories are known to be several thousand years longer than the Judea-christian stories.

I think it is a qustion that doesn't really help much. Where "life" began has no value in the every day world.

Life began in the imagination of God.

On Earth it probably started in some marine thermal vents.

What are you asking this here for?

The Bible does not give any location, no reliable information of where, or when. Think about it. Read the words and think about it.

Study the science and think about it. Start with how science works and what the scientific method is. Think about it. Use your God-given intellectual powers to learn and think.

I don't think you should use the bible as a reliable scientific source. Since when do people read fairy tales to answer scientific questions?

But if you want to get technical, life (which didn't require oxygen) actually began in the oceans millions of years before there was enough oxygen in the atmosphere to support other kinds of life. Science tells us that humanoids were first seen in Africa before migrating to other areas.

Humans originated in Africa and then migrated around the world, according to the interpretations of the physical evidence.

Some evidence leads to questions about the out of Africa theory though...

"Oldest Human DNA Reveals Aussie Oddity

Constance Holden

Australian scientists say they have successfully extracted an extinct genetic sequence from an anatomically modern man who died on the shores of an Australian lake about 60,000 years ago. The sequence is so primitive that it raises questions about the leading model of human origins, the "Out of Africa" theory, which holds that our ancestors first arose in Africa, then spread throughout the world perhaps 100,000 years ago."

if you mean human life:

it is relatively easy to check the variation in genome between individuals across a small geographical area. the areas with the longest-standing human population will have a wider range of variety in genomes between individuals (because there has been longer for genetic diversity to develop) than areas with 'younger' populations.

that is the way you check. what do you think happens when you look at the evidence?

I think that the scientists have evidence to prove what they say. The Bible was written at various times long ago before men knew as much about science as they do now...I think a rational explanation lies somewhere in between the two thoughts.

You are mistaken - the Bible simply says Eden. Nowhere does it state where Eden is. Modern archaeologists determined long ago that life began in the fertile region between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers

Life was everywhere, when the world began. evolution was everywhere. All over the world there was life. Bu i u r talking about a spiritual life then al of our souls started in Egypt. you should not take in what the bible says. some of it maybe but not all of it.

All evidence points to Africa.

Since the Adam/Eve story is allegorical, who's to say the Garden of Eden wasn't in the Congo? It has lions, etc.

I'd like to see the aquatic ape hypothesis explored a bit more, too.
