"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. "

I think no religion ever teaches to hate anyone. Those who tend to accuse "religion" have not understood it or are seeing it very superficially.I feel that it is the lack of religion that causes one to hate others....For this you need to know what is "real" religion. How many people you know really follow religion is its true spirit and with a sense of duty?
Just because the tenets of religion are misused by a class of people does not mean that it has become a curse, because these people do not follow it. How can one term it a curse then?
I think that we need to look things not superficially but deeply, and then, ya, we see the rite thing.

Hello,

Not at all. What causes me to hate is being cheated, ripped off or taken for a ride by people I trusted. Religion actually cages the beast in me so it is more a blessing for my enemies than a curse since I do not harm or destroy them.

God Is Not Great- by: christopher hitchens

you should read this book.

in the grand scheme of things, religion has caused more harm than good. but on a more personal note, it is the reason many people get out of bed in the morning, it is the reason people continue to live, and find the motivation to thrive. without religion, we would be nowhere.

Only if you consider hating a curse.

Quite frankly, after seeing what humans have become; I think a little hate would be normal. I don't need religion to tell me to hate others, others do quite well on their own to convince me to hate them and avoid them.

I prefer animals, they keep their mouths shut and their arms (or rather paws) open. Domestic of course; though I don't mind watching wild animals.

Wild animals are far more civilized than civilized humans. In fact, civilization is the most uncivilized thing on this planet.

I suppose it depends on the religion you are talking about. Also it depends on how one sees them selves in their religion. I myself am Christian, and people ask me why I hate certain things or people. I don't hate, I just don't agree with what some people do, or the way they act. Other "Christians" might pull the holier than thou card, but that isn't what Christianity is about. Where is the hate in "Love thy neighbor"?
As for other religions, like those that follow the Koran (sp?), the extremists, that tell you to gouge out your wife's eyes if she looks at another man...that is where the hate comes from.

You are on a very wrong track my dear, NO WORLD RELGION CAUSES US TO HATE AND IF ANY ONE TELLS YOU SO HE/SHE IS A LIAR. Do not go by hearsay. If you are really serious I would suggest to you to please learn about all the major world religions, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and you will find that the source of all of them is the sublime truth that we call GOD. It is the vested interests who propogate hate in the name of religion and they will pay a heavy price for it. Remember that fire can be used for cooking food, keeping us warm, for lighting up and it can also bring havoc, fire can kill people, it depends upon man how he chooses to use fire. Religion is also being used by man to create hatred and bloodshed in the world although no religion propogates hatred and bloodshed. Form an opinion after you wisely study all the major religions do not be naive to fall in the trap of liars.

Sometimes you can misunderstand a religion and think they are teaching hate when in fact they are teaching you not to accept things that go against God. You have to sit and really ponder if the message is of hate. If you are referring to christians, remember that people mistake what we believe in as hate because we dont agree or tolerate certain things that go on in the world. And we don't because those things go against God.

Religion does not cause people to hate, ignorance is why people choose to hate, they just use religion to justify their their hatred which is really ignorance. Sad really when you think about it!!!

I don't think any religion causes people to hate. I think they already have hate in their hearts and then misuse their religion in an attempt to justify it.
