If you evaluated the four gospels as to weather they are valid historical documents and the writings of the Church Fathers(early christian leaders) you would find some interesting answers. Christ died in about the year 30. The apostles did not start writing the Christian scriptures until about the year 60 and it wasn't completed until about the year 120. There are writings of the Church Fathers that date back to some time just after the year 200. There are over 2,000 hand written records over the world which have been copied from the original texts. The persons who made these copies, often made them when there was no contact with the rest of the world. There were no telephones, no computers, no postal systems, no radios, no televisions. All of these 2,000 texts substantially agree with each other. Also, there were inscriptions on tombs that expressed people's beliefs. There is an inscription from a tomb displayed in the British Museum that goes back to before the year 300. As I recall, it is dated from the year 150, but I am not sure of that date.

The story of Jesus was the story of Osiris and Horus amended and renamed 3000 years later, for a different audience ,but nevertheless a symbolic story of the life cycle of the Sun ,the Sun ,dying and reborn as itself
The fruit of knowledge meant the results of awareness ,it was symbolic language not a real fruit
The Wings on Angels was the artist way of showing that these people could fly and came from the sky.
Genesis is full of references to extraterrestrials ,and still Christians doggedly maintain they do not exist ,this must be the greatest mystery yet .
replace the word God with pilot or Alien
The snake in the garden of Eden was Enki, the only good Anunaki around who wanted to free the slave race of Adam and give them independence.
He rebelled against the Ruling Anunaki ,Who had cloned and genetically engineered the Adams race for slaves
the ruling elite disagreed ,(not wanting to loose control over their slaves )and made the snake(Enki) look Evil
History gets written by the winners
not by the truth
Most religions have done their utmost to transform symbolism into reality by humanizing the legends as time went by
so that by the end the people were convinced it was all real people
Instead of Cosmic bodies
this happened all the time ,changing symbolism into reality
Leonardi Da Vinci was probably the most famous.of the masonic elite who was involved with humanizing symbolism for political reasons .
An Engineer,Artist, but above all a manipulating politician a liar and a trickster, cleverly hiding ,meant to be discovered ,clues that either way resulted in to the reality of Jesus.
indicating that Jesus had women, a son and there fore had sex .
Leaving people to argue over that ,And so forgetting about the argument if he was real or not .
How can a shroud ,that is wrapped around a body end up with a clear image on a flat center piece of the shroud.this was probably the first experiment with the process of photography.in Human History.
Christianity was a transformation from Paganism ,
religions which obeyed Nature
To a religion that obeyed Men ,
So that the people could be manipulated ,
set against each other and profits could be made from the conflicts.
Christianity has slandered Nature ever since ,any thing Natural (including sex,of any kind)was made to look evil
(Alienation against the Environment ,http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ag5ATE91JFITEg86H1a4EFLsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20070627081822AAniEYV)
Christian temples are build on sacred pagan sites having erased the original temples.
Christian holy days are on Pagan Holy days
so that the locations and the dates did not change ,
only the control,
Making the transformation as easy as possible for the people ,
They still went to the same places on the same days to worship
only now they worshiped something else
But how can this still be a question
this is History .
only Christians who are still under the Illuminati mind control believe the fairy stories.
And the programming runs very deep ,3000 years of brainwashing.
It is impossible to free them from the lies that control them .
the best way to tell lies, is truths mixed with lies
this is what the Bible is a collection of half truths and half lies

I do not know if Jesus really existed at all. There is practically no evidence that he did.
There is the bible. But that is kind of obviously biased.
Other than that, Jesus is mentioned in texts attributed to Josephus. But there is strong evidence that the reference was added later. - the style is different and the words are not of the right era. So some scribe copying the work added a reference to Jesus because he thought there must have been one.
There are some Roman references to Christos and his followers. But Christos means Messiah, and at the time - following the savage suppression of the Jewish Revolt - messiahs were a dime a dozen.
Maybe the stories were hung on the shell of a real character. Maybe it is just a compilation of other deities. Who knows? Who cares?

As a matter of fact, I do. I do believe that a Yeshua ben Yosef may have very well lived around two thousand years ago, I do not believe a "Christ" did.
I think Jesus may have lived and died as a husband and father, he may have done good things, he may have even been a rabbi. The first books of the New Testament were written after Jesus died, it is my opinion that the Christ myth was dumped onto the actual Jesus after his death. The Christ myth is just a rehashing of earlier pagan myths, like Mithras and Hours.
Basically, I believe that "Jesus Christ" is based on a real man (whose actual name might not have even been Yeshua or any other variant), a real man who's life was fictionalized and dramatized to fit the bill of the "Christ". Jesus may have existed, but he wasn't the son or embodiment of a god... he was just a man.

I think "simon T" states a pretty good position (except the who cares part). Personally, I think there was a real individual at the core of the tradition, but who knows what a serious examination of the evidence might reveal. There are some intriguing suggestions of other origins of the Jesus stories.
Edit: Hey!! I like Donald Duck!

It is possible but there is no actual historical reference and the Romans would SURELY have mentioned him.
There is much to confuse the issue. There are theories, as mentioned above, that he was a mythical figure, an invention, built from stories of previous religions, including ancient Egyptian.
Problem is that, at the alleged time, people were very anxious to believe. The 'holy men' of the time wielded a lot of power.
Try watching Monty Python's 'Life Of Brian' and you will get an alternative view underneath all the laughs.
Maybe, just maybe, he was as you suggest, a man ahead of his time, a clever manipulator and maybe even a hypnotist!!!
We will never know?

The new testiment was started by Paul, more than just a couple years after Jesus supposedly went to heaven. There is no evidence of Jesus actually existing, everything wrote about him was not written for years.

I am, yup. There have been many people history disregarded. It doesn't mean they didn't exist. I just think the gospels tacked on a lot of stuff to the poor guy.
And, I agree with Draagon's Life of Brian view. I think that's most likely to have been what happened (minus the aliens). When a people are troubled, they find their hero where they can. Germany found Hitler, Leningrad found Zhdanov, Arabs found Muhammad, Indians found Gautama, etc.
Lilith, that video is crap. Read a book on Egyptian mythology or something.

I do believe there was such a man! A man with some cool Ideas ,might have been radical and somewhat to the left for his Era ! I do not believe we are counting time on a mythological figure! you know ,Ad BC and such! but I do not think in a million years that this Jesus man existed in the capacity Christian and Muslims made him out to be!
