I have a 2yr. old english bulldog that has HORRENDOUS gas! The smell is lterally breathtaking (the sound can be shocking as well).
She passes gas almost constantly. My house & furniture now permanently smell like her "toots".
She eats a high quality Lamb & Rice kibble, no table scraps, I mix plain yogurt in with her kibble (I heard that helped with gas). We walk her 3 times a day (morning, evening & before bed)....& bless her llittle heart she just keeps tooting.
I know that EBD are more prone to gas & that is a reality I gladly accepted when she became part of my family, but this is getting ridiculous!

The brand food she is on is Eagle Pack Lamb & Rice Formula.
The ingredients (in order) are: Lamb Meal, Ground Brown Rice, Ground White Rice, Oatmeal, Beet Pulp, Flaxseed, Carrots, Alfalfa, Peas, Apples, Blueberries, Cranberries, Inulin, Tourine, Beta-Carotene, Dehydrated Kelp, Glucosamine & Vitamin supplements

Read the ingredients on the food.
You say "high quality" but don't mention a brand.
Corn, wheat, milk, soy, chicken and beef all cause problems. As well as "by-products", fillers, preservatives and "animal digest".
Basically, the food you have him on may not be the best one for him.
Look into Innova EVO. It's doing great things for dogs with tummy trouble.
California Natural, Artemis, Wellness and Canidae are good too.
There are supplements you can buy. Ark Naturals has one for tummy trouble. www.arknaturals.
Have you spoken with your vet? They may have some better ideas as well.

Yogurt is okay for dogs, it is not a typical dairy product but within limitations. For Bulldogs, not much you can do. That is what they are known for. Maybe the food is too rich. Get suggestions from your vet on a different food. Iams is pretty good for those problems. Don't go much cheaper as you will lose quality and the dog will likely shed more. Some cooked white rice in it's food sometimes eases things but that is more for wet farts if you know what I mean.

Dear Stinky Bulldog
My sister owns such an animal and is absolutely breathtaking I'm afraid your going to have to really love your pet dog as this is an ongoing gas release with your particular breed. I recommend buying nose plugs, not really. But a good freshner may help but I doubt it. happy tootin

The first thing I would do if I were you is to switch her to a raw food diet. Grains can cause gas as well as alergy and weight problems. On a raw diet the food moves through the gut much faster than grains and cooked meats, and dogs poop about 25% of what they do on grain based diets. That alone will reduce the gas, not to mention the improved health from eating like the carnivore they are. There are plenty of resources on the internet on raw food diets.
Yogurt is good, it is a fermented dairy product and is not in the same class as regular homoginized milk and will help with digestion.

Take her to the vet to rule out any digestive problems. They will also be able to advise you on her diet, and give you better tips on ways to control it.
I didn't think yogurt would be very good for her gas problems, but I've never heard of it either! So I don't know about that one.

Try leaving off the yogurt. Dairy products contribute to flatulence, they don't reduce it.
You might also try changing her food. I feed my Pyr Iams, or Pedigree most of the time, and she is not very gassy. However, my Mini Schnauzer can cut some real beauts.
If removing the yogurt form her diet doesn't reduce the gas, you probably should see your Vet and ask what you should do.
I also recommend the use of Oust Air Freshener.
What we go through four our four-footed children!!!! LOL

I have no advice.
My 8 month old Old English puppy is rancid. He makes you gag. They just have AWFUL farts. It seriously burns yours eyes almost. Does your's have stinky eyes too? Their tear stains can smell really bad too. They are just grunting, snorting, snoring, sloppy, drippy, smelly dogs. Love em!

Maybe a change in dog food might be in order. I mix carrot and rice in with my dogs dog food..it helps make their stool solid, might also help gas..
