So recently a student at my college has stalked me and sent harassing messages saying he was going to kill me if I didn't be his girlfriend and have sex with him. He did other things such as follow me to classes and ask to have sex with my mom. I told the police at my school and they are having him arrested this week on stalking charges. I KNOW that the stalker will tell the police I did illegal things and make up stories that I am a prostitute or a drug dealer or something crazy. Will the police believe his story. Since I am pressing charges against him for stalking doesn't he lose his credibility? Like if he says something like I underage drink wouldn't it just look like he is trying to get back at me for bringing charges against me.....or that he is my I won't be his gf? What do I do? The police say they can charge him anytime but I keep stalling because I am so damn scared!!! Will his defense lawyer attack me and say I am insane or made it all up?

Hey thank you everyone!
To clarify: no I haven't done any of the things I am thinking he would say.....I have not used drugs.....underage drank etc....IT is that the stalker has broken me down so much said things like "I am in the military they can't touch me" and he said he is smarter than the cops and he could turn it all around and make my life hell...........

Your college, if it is a decent one, should have a counselor to help you out with this.
The cops and prosecutors know these stalkers inside and out. I suspect he has a record of this already. Your word will be taken long before this jerk is ever believed. Stalkers often lie about their victims and that is why the courts will not allow defense lawyers to attack victims during questioning. I would be surprised if this even made it to a trial. Most of these guys simply plead guilty to avoid the real long prison sentences.
Actually the harder you nail this creep, the less likely he will be back to bother you. Don't stop with the charges either. Go to the college administration and try to have him expelled from the school. You will be doing yourself and all the other women at the school a real favor.

He will lose some of his credibility, but not necessarily all. What you need is evidence of his crimes. The harrassing messages. Testimony of anyone who saw you have interaction with him and what he said. Stalking can be hard to prove, and he may be let go. What you also need to do is file for a Restraining Order as well.
If he attends you school, you may be able to get him suspended or expelled. See what your school has in the way of a comittee or student court type thing. You may want to take this up with them and see what they can do to get him away from you.
I wish there was a way to let his parents know what he is doing too.

They won't care about what he says unless he has some evidence besides his word. Even if you do underage drink this is trivial compared to threating to kill somebody. Do you still have the threating messages? If you do be sure to show them to the police. I admire your courage for dealing with this. It is the right thing to do. You will have far more to worry about if you let this ride. Unchecked stalkers can become dangerous. Press charges ASAP. This guy needs help. He needs to know that he is in trouble, and if he continues to do this he will be expelled and imprisoned.

if you have the messages use them as evidence.
stay away from prostituting yourself until this blows over,
and don't sell any drugs to people you don't know for a while.
and everyone in college drinks underage.
just tell the cops what happened and tell them you want him to stay away from you.
that's all, you aren't trying to ruin his life or take his money, even though that is what may happen to him, he made bad choices.
leaving the house saying "I'm going to harass a woman who wants nothing to do with me" is a bad choice.
you could tell him you will call the cops on him if he doesn't stop.
let them deal with him.
if it doesn't stop get the real cops involved.
or tell his parents.

Why are you so paranoid?
You haven't done anything wrong?
Didn't you?
You're telling the truth...
Don't you?
So nothing to worry about ,

It doesn't matter. Get a restraining order. If he violates this it won't matter what he says about you.
