I used to waitress and I never even gave that a thought, the money was good and I loved waitressing. When I started getting more serious about my life as a born again christian, that same question came to mind and it bothered me. I would feel guilty for serving people alchohol. Personally, I believe God was telling me it was wrong. I would think what if someone was an alchoholic and I played a part in contributing. I did not want or need to add to my guilt. Needless to say that was my last waitressing job. I thank God that my wrists can't handle it anymore.

No. If it is a family restaurant, it is fine. Believe it or not, there is corruption of some sort in just about any work place. Evil is throughout the world. The important thing is not letting any of your environment dominate or influence you. Obviously if it was a strip club with alcohol , that would be a definite no no, because of the total purposely sinful atmosphere.
Alchohol is not evil itself. The bible warns of over indulgence, speaking of the drinker's consumption, which is sinful. So if there is something wrong with a Christian working in this environment, then non of us would have jobs.

The problem would be how strongly they felt against the use of alcohol. It's one thing to eat at a restaurant that serves it if you don't use it but as a waiter/waitress you would have to serve it to your customers. I doubt that you could keep your job if every time a customer ordered a drink you had to get someone else to serve it.

Be sober, be vigilant, for your adversary the devil roams about like a lion, seeking whom he may devour. I forgot which book of the bible that is in but it's somewhere near the end of the New Testament. 1 or 2 drinks is usually not enough to produce a life-threatening condition, but.... A business that has a main purpose of serving alcoholic beverages would not make much money if had a policy of limiting drinks.

I don't think it's wrong for a Christian to work as a waiter/waitress at a restaurant. I think it's all right to serve alcohol, but it's best not to serve ILLEGAL alcohol drinks. I personally think that it's all right, there's nothing against the Commandments.

They are not the ones choosing to drink, or to drink in quantity - so that decision is not on them.
However, there are places a Christian should not be at - let alone work at like a singles bar, but a family restaurant is fine.

The "wine" in the bible was just grape juice. There would be a problem with working at this type of place. Muslims face the same problem.

Of course it isn't wrong! What is wrong with alcohol? Jesus drank wine. He even turned water into wine at a wedding.
How did you get the idea that it's wrong?
Most Christians drink wine/alcohol. I don't, just because I don't like the smell/taste.

Since Jesus made about 200 gallons of WINE for the Wedding Feast at Cana, and since He drank wine EVERY DAY (they didn't have refrigerators, and grapes begin to ferment within about 20 minutes of being crushed for juice), I think it's OK.

Depends on which version of Christian you're talking about. Catholics, for example, have no problem with drinking.
