Why do apples give you a stomachache?

My boyfriend and I had stomachaches from delicious Pink Lady apples yesterday. What causes the stomachache exactly? (Please, no guessing - just the facts, please)

My guess is that you're not used to the fiber and you and your boyfriend became gaseous as thing started to move around a little quicker in your intestines.
