I hate to burst your bubble, but religion is not the cause of war and suffering- PEOPLE are. The World Wars of last century pretty much proved this. Take away religion, and what will you replace it with? People will simply use nationalism, racism, cultural differences, and other means of differentiating themselves and creating stereotypes and prejudices. Meanwhile, greed will still exist, and powerful leaders will use these stereotypes and prejudices, and guess what the result will be? War. Sufferings. Sacrificing of people you love. If you honestly think that religion is the cause of the world's woes, then you are really naive. It is selfishness, greed, and human nature. That is not to say YOU should be religious or believe in God or anything. I'm not saying that at all! But you obviously have no clue what benefits people get out of religion. You have no clue how other people feel or what they experience. You simply are cherry-picking the bad things, and ignoring the good things. That makes you no different than the ignorant religious people who DO throw around inconsistent Bible verses and cause war and suffering. Intolerance of people who are different is the problem, and that goes for you, too. I support your right to believe or not believe what you want, but I would appreciate it if you extended the same courtesy to me. Otherwise you're just a big hypocrite.

The truth is, religion is being blamed for all the negative happenings we see today. And the people who are putting religion as a reason for these bad things are government officials and the media. Which are always the best means of getting some people all stirred up and a great chance to grab for these people to exercise their freedom of speech. Bringing the world to its attention and generalizing the whole situation as a code for the majority. All a desperate attempt at false recognition and destruction of social peace. And for those who recognize this attempt are better at translating these events and taking them in such manner. But for others, this will always be a step backwards at establishing world peace.

Intelligence and education (and maybe a writing course or two).

That religion is the center of any conflict is a fallacy. The grab for wealth, power, and raw resource is at the center. Religion or no, war and injustice will continue.

Openmindedness and understanding are required in any relationship. Again, religion or no.

Give a man a fish, he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he will eat for a lifetime. Teach a man religion, and he will die praying for a fish.

The bible was written in the 300s by constantine's royal court to unify the many religions of Europe and control a growing population under his rule. Why shouldn't that be the same today? People are so oblivious to the world around them.

A lot of people might agree with this, but religion is a part of the human race. Since the dawn of time humans have had beliefs in Gods and higher beings. Its a part of human nature to question their existence.

Probably so, at least for this century. Who knows in the distant future if religions will still be around or not. When people stop indoctrinating their children, this will be the beginning of the end for religions.

I don't think there is anything wrong with religion as a concept it is just the way it is mostly practiced that is all eff'd up. People want answers to what is going on around them. Always have, always will. Usually, the fastest, easiest to absorb answers will go down easiest.

The concept of religion isn't really that bad. It only becomes bad when people start to make assumptions about their own religion and other peoples. Then they start to say "OH my god is better then your god, because i have books that say so."

I wish the world just kept their religion to themselves. It would be a better place.

What's wrong with division? Why has division suddenly become such a bad word these days? There's nothing wrong with people holding fast to their beliefs. Diversity in thinking is the essence of tolerance!

Religion causes wars and sufferings? No honey, religion is the excuse that they give but it is not the reason behind any war. MONEY, greed, arragance, lies.....these are the reasons there is war.
