I am interested in purchasing one and having it custom made with a 3.7" tire or a 4.5" tire size. When commenting about it's performance can you tell me what size tires you are using. Also it is the "Pugsley Frameset"--100% Surly 4130 CroMoly steel. Main triangle double-butted. TIG-welded. Mabe you have a recomendation. I want to ride mostly on sand.

there aren't all that many companies offering snow/sand bikes...the Surly Pugsley and the Vicious Cycles Thunderwing are the only two that come to my mind. i'm not sure that Surly offers custom options on the Pugsley, but i am sure that Vicious Cycles does. the Vicious Cycles will cost more, but it's a much nicer bike.

having said all of that, i have never ridden a Pugsley--i've ridden plenty of Surlys (Steamroller's, 1x1's, a Long Haul Trucker, and i used to own a Crosscheck), and always felt they offer a great value for the $, but if you have a bit more to spend--someone else makes a nicer bike for the intended purpose.

I've heard them pretty fun. Actually for sand they're probably the best option out there. Good luck!

With a 3.7-4.5 inch tyre, it's going to be slow and sluggish.
