It sounds like a heat rash/prickly heat .. My daughter used to get rashes like that and it would go away after a bath and a change of clothes. Check and see if she's sweating .. I wouldn't rush her to the ER unless she is having a fever or the rash is preventing her from breathing properly .... if she still has the rash by morning .. you should probably contact your pediatrician

Please Help Me! Baby With Unknown Rash..!!??
Posted: 11-20-04 22:04pm

My 16-month old has a rash that is covering her entire body. It looks and feels like she has goosebumps all over. Her eyes seem to swell a little bit off and on. Sometimes she looks better to me and sometimes she looks worse. She's had it since tuesday... She woke up with it. I took her to the doctor (nightime care) wednesday night and the doc could only surmise that it was either something viral or something she came into contact with. I don't think it would be viral, because her twin sister has not gotten it and they constantly switch off binkies and drink out of the same cups. It hasn't really changed since tuesday. She has no other symptoms. She doesn't seem bothered by it. But I am. I don't know what to do to make it go away. I don't know what caused it, so I don't know what to keep her away from. Has anybody experienced a rash like this? Do you know how long it might last? Is there anything I can do to help it go away faster? Please, any advice would be helpful. I really need some answers, or at least something that might point me in the right direction... Thanks.

My daughters sometimes look like they have a 'goosebump' type of rash. For them it's just dry skin. I try to lotion on them, but when I slack off their skin gets irritated. Hope that helps.

My cousin who is 14 months old developed a rash from head to toe. The doctors don't know what it is. She has now got pneumonia and is in hospital. I don't know if they are related but I will let you know if I find out what it is. She has been in hospital for 9 days now.

Hey do you people reply to each other? My daughter has had this rash for 2 months. We have been to the doctor three times.
It started with a "yeast infection" when the yeast infection cleared up, she was left with a goosebump type rash which slowly creeped over her entire back. She has had it now for two months. Does anyone know an answer to our problem?

It is keratosis pilaris! Small children get a goosebump like rash from clogged sebaceous glands under the skin. Harmless, yet ugly! My daughter is 14months and after several doctors appts. I have found out with my own research that it is kp.

My daughter had that and later on I found out she had Scarlet Fever with out a temperature. Her doctor said she had strep throat with out any symptoms and no temperature. Make sure the rash does not spread as my daughters quickly spread from her chest to arms and later face all with in a matter of 30 minutes. If that happens I would take her to an urgent care because the medicine is important. It sounds worse then it is but it still looks horrible and I was very upset when my daughter got it. My Nephew got it a few days later without any symptoms and according to his doctor 90% of kids under the age of 2 show no symptoms of step throat.
If it does not spread then it may be any number of things to include irratated skin or allergies......good luck

A couple of months ago, my son had the same rash and it felt a bit like sandpaper. It turned out he had a throat infection they call "strep throat". His throat was red raw and it's really painful and feels like your throat is on fire. Try to check her mouth, I kept an eye on my young daughter by getting a small torch (flashlight) and looking down her throat (laying her down). I'd still get the doctor to have a look though even if she doesn't have any other symptoms, as a mother, if you're not sure, over react and get them to the doctor. I took my daughter to the emergency room because her finger got jammed in the door.

My friends baby just had the same thing. She took him to the doctor and he was running a fever of 103. Turns out that is was a viral rash. The doctor said that they don't have anything to treat it, just give Tylenol for the fever and it will go away in a week or so. It is also contagious if they are running a fever. This is a possibility.

I'm assuming the rash isn't red or splotchy, but if it is, run your finger over a section and see if the color fades when pressure is applied. If so, it's just her skin, not something running deeper. If she doesn't have a fever, she probably just has dry skin that has been irritated by something. Choose a really good lotion like Eucerin (don't run out at this time of night if you don't already have some...use a light coat of vaseline if you've got it) and keep her skin hydrated.

Typically, skin conditions such as eczema have to do with poor dieting. Learn here https://tr.im/bOUPT
Eczema food triggers such as eggs, fish, peanuts, and soy are known to help reduce flare-ups, but this can vary from person to person. These foods may also exacerbate eczema because many people cannot properly digest the proteins, which causes an allergic reaction.
