i'm thinking of trading in my ps2 for a ps3, there's a really good deal at a shop near me which shaves off 150 dollars for a trade in, is it really worth it?

ps. my ps2 is chipped, so i will no longer get free games, but would it be worth more $$$ because it is chipped?

im gonna assume that by chipped you mean modded, as in thanks to adding somthing to this PS2, you can download and play games you got online, and burned to DVD. if that is indeed the case, to a game shop, you PS2 may very well be worth absolutely nothing. if you "chipped" this PS2, you had to open it up, which voids the warranty, and not only that, it changes the merchandise itself, beyond just opening it. most game stores wont accept a modified unit, because it isnt what they are allowed to sell, especially since sony doesnt condone modifications

Yes, you should go trade it in right now. I don't see how you would think a PS2 would be worth more because it was damaged, but $150 is excellent, even if it's only towards a PS3.

150$ is a very good trade-in. The mod-chip itself doesn't cost too much. It's good, that the store accepts modded PS2, since modding violates copyright laws.

I highly doubt they will even allow you to trade it. Chipping your PS2 isn't legal, and companies will rarely sell illegal goods (since it's their ass on the line if they get called on it). You can try, but I doubt they will accept it.

I would say try to sell on ebay, but I doubt you'd get the same price (I'm not even sure they let you sell it on ebay anymore because I couldn't find a modded PS2).
