80% born with, and maybe 20% learned. We're definately born with it, because it's more or less down to hormones and such. Slightly "learned", although not truely, because our upbringing and environment affects the way we view sexuality and how experimental we are, and sometimes even a traumatic experience with one gender can make a person "change" their sexuality. I don't believe it's possible to really change it, but they believe that, and that counts.
It's also learned if you look at the question in another way. It's there from birth, but we don't actually know what it is until we experiment and "learn" it later in life.

You're born with either an x or a y chromosome. You're not, however, born with an identity, and this includes your sexuality. Therefore, your sexual identity is learned. Typically, it's developed within the first 5 or 6 years of life as a product of upbringing. So, a sexual identity that is not in line with your chromosome, is, by all means, an anomaly.

There is a scientific reason you are born with it. Sometimes, males are born with more female chemicals, making them more sexually inclined towards other males. Sometimes it's the opposite and females get more sexually inclined towards males.
I guess it COULD be learned, too, say if a child's parents were homosexual, the child could learn that that is the "normal" way a relationship works and that's the way their brain gets wired.

We habitually have sexuality. It is born with but not 'tapped' into until later.
by means of gay/straight I ultimately feel that it is nurture over nature. we need to see more questions like this on yahoo answers.

You are not just born with your sexuality. If you are around very promiscuous people that will rub off. If you were taught to be a bit more held back sexually that will influence you. Being sexually abused, we know, has an effect on a persons sexuality.
Environment definitely plays a part in forming our views on sex and sexuality.

I have a very good friend who is doing his thesis on this very question. His theory is that we are all born with the propensity to go either way and environment and familial up- bringing sway us one way or the other. In short, we all have the ability to be straight, bi, lesbian, or gay. Our parents, our friends, what happens to us throughout our lives, the people we surround ourselves with all affect that decision.
