Padraig, its easy to say the answer would be obvious now, but it is much more difficult to decide at that moment when it feels so right. You know, a "my body is telling me yes, and my mind is telling me no" kind of thing.

In a religious context, we should hope that we have a solid enough background so as to have a discerning palate, as it were.

Depends on what you're putting in your mouth. If it's something that could potentially harm you or in reference to inner organs, then obviously no. There are things that
I tremendously enjoy the taste of, but would never swallow simply because of the mind over matter issue.

...it depends on what it is
..why it tastes good
..why you're tasting it
...etc.

Fruits with microscopic insects can taste good, but some things shouldn't be swallowed.

...this is in "religion and spirituality"...so, I'd mention of the story of Adam, maybe. The apple that, I guess, messed it up for all of us.

Nor should you reflexively spit out that which tastes bad. Sometimes the most distasteful truths are the hardest ones to swallow.

um, well I guess the same thing goes for something that feels good too. Just because it feels good doesn't mean you should do it or touch it ect.

I've heard that antifreeze tastes very sweet. Does that answer your question?

If you have to ask something so obvious, then do us all a favor and swallow it.

No, it is always good to do some research before.
