Muslims why would God say its ok to beat your wife? Judaism does not teach that. Muslims believe God did speak to the Jews but they got corrupted along the way. But still they do not believe beating their wives is ok.

"Surah 4:34
"Men have authority over women because God has made the one superior to the other, and because they spend their wealth to maintain them. Good women are obedient. They guard their unseen parts because God has guarded them. As for those from whom you fear disobedience, ADMONISH THEM and send them to beds apart and BEAT THEM. Then if they obey you, take no further action against them. Surely God is high, supreme."

I use to be a Muslim so I can tell you how they interpret that.

Basicly the Ulama(Scholars) consider that verse to mean lightly slapping your wife after you have done a series of things to let her know you are angry with her.

Affron, Fasakh isnt even an Arabic word, that is Bidah(Innovation), you cannot add to Islam, you think you are better than Allah and Muhammad? The Qur'an does not allow women to divorce, only the man can give divorce. The woman has to go to a court and beg a judge for it.

‘If a wife fears ill-treatment (nushuz) or desertion on her husband’s part, there is no blame on them if they arrange an amicable settlement between themselves, and such settlement is best…..’ (Surah 4.128). So women have enough rights to make their own decisons!!

Men are the protectors and maintenars of women not to subjugate them or opress them, but rather "protect " the,. Before marriage , the father protects a woman and afer marriage its the husband. Husbands are in no way allowed to beat their wives. Theres an incident mentioned in the qur'an wherein a prophet took an oath to beat his wife because he was angry with her. later, he realised his mistake. God revealed to him that he shd fulfill his oath by striking her with a few blades of grass. Thats what is meant by "beating". Its to correct, not to punsih or subjugate.
Now tell me, what would a few blades of grass do?? Would it hurt or tickle??

If we want to know the method of teating one's wives, we should go back to the way prophet muhammad treating his wives. If you have read up on him you wopuld know that he was the best to his wives. he would do houselhold work, help the, and b\never beat them. Forget his wives, henever would beat or even admonish hos slaves. Infact, many times, you find that hs wives would back answer him.

He said "The best of you are those who are best to his wives"

In Islam, no person has superiority over another except in the case of piety.
Being a mother is very honourable in islam, while christianity says that eve was opunished by labour pains.

Um Christianity does not condone beating your wife! Just because someone is speaking something about your religion does not mean you have to say negative things about a religion you are not. And if I was to stoop down to your level, I have muslim friends that say that is true and that muslims believe that even when they die they will not be allowed in their gods presence because he is too good for them. Um so one, Islam does not TEACH men to beat there women, and the ones who do it on regular basis are not considered Muslims, at least not in my eyes or im guessing in the eyes of God. Plus it is a horrible thing to translate the Kuran from Arabic to english because it loses a lot of its beauty and true meaning.
Also beating is for extreme cases, such as, to put it in a more modern way, being a slut, it doesnt mean if you dont cover up like the women of saudi arabia do you get beaten. If you truly beleive that Muslims teach the beating of women/wives, go read a book, perhaps the entire Kuran.

Give alms, as I have seen that the majority of the dwellers of Hell-fire were you (women)." They asked, "Why is it so, O Allah's Apostle ?" He replied, "You curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religion than you. A cautious sensible man could be led astray by some of you." The women asked, "O Allah's Apostle! What is deficient in our intelligence and religion?" He said, "Is not the evidence of two women equal to the witness of one man?" They replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her intelligence. Isn't it true that a woman can neither pray nor fast during her menses?" The women replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her religion."

In my opinion, this is evidence that Muhammed got fooled by an intelligence "Other Than God", to the detriment of women!

No it's not okay to beat you wife! Where do you get this crap from? Remember the Quran was made millions of years ago! a Lot of things have changed since then you can't base your facts on that! Also, Christians beat their wives too, so don't just generalize a religion! My dad has never hit my mom, so what does that say THEY DONT BEAT WOMEN.
