Lassie. She can do everything but talk.
Seriously, there are hundreds of breeds that are the best breed in the world. Each one can be perfect for a different person and a different situation. If there were only one "best breed in the world", they'd have no reason for breeding and keeping any of the others.
Tell us a little bit more about yourself and what you want in a dog and we can give suggestions for what breed is a good fit for you.
Here are some questions I suggest you answer and then we can give you some pretty good suggestions for further research:
* How large of a dog do you want?
* How much experience do you have with dogs?
* Do you (or do you expect to) have children?
* Do you have or might have in the future other dogs?
* Do you have or might have in the future cats or other small animals?
* How big is your property?
* What do you want to do with your dog (jog, agility, cuddle, etc.)?
* How much grooming are you prepared to do?
* How much shedding are you willing to put up with?
* Do you want a guard and/or watch dog?
* How much exercise will the dog get?
* How long are you willing to wait to get just the right dog? (If you like a rarer breed, it can take quite a bit longer.)

Everybody who owns a dog/dogs has the best dog/dogs in the world. Everybody has different opinions on different dogs.
You need to research dogs and get one that fits your life style and that YOU think is the best dog.
Remember 'beauty is in the eyes of the beholder'

NO ONE CAN ANSWER THIS ONE TO SATISFY YOUR NEEDS. EVERYONE IS GOING TO TELL YOU THAT THEIR DOG IS THE BEST! Honestly, I think my breed of dog is the best, but that wouldn't be fair to say that to everyone else here because they or even you might not agree. So, with that being said, you really need to research, research, research.....and then decide what works best for you and your family, and also your lifestyle. There are water dogs, protective dogs, herding dogs, sport dogs, and you just have to research and decide what fits with you and your family.

Every person has their favorites and that's what you will get with this question.
We have the favorite's of German Shepherds and small Beagles.
Good with people and children.
As with any dog, they're all good but not good for everyone.

Any mixed breed is healthier, stronger, and with fewer problems than any purebred. Go to your local dog shelter. Just because a dog is in a shelter doesn't mean that there is anything the matter with it. As well, see Petco and Petsmart. They have adoption days, and people are there who have taken the dogs home and lived with them. Any purebred dog will never be as healthy as a mixed breed. Ask any vet... In fact, ask anyone who breeds purebred dogs!!!!!
