Because Jews are Jews, and not Muslims. Mohammed is not a prophet of Judaism, whose prophets words are recorded in the Torah and Tanakh.

Mohammed purported to bring a book that Muslims claim "replaces" the bible. Obviously, to Jews as well as Christians, this is an unacceptable contradiction of G-d's earlier message. Both believe that the peculiar idea that Muslims have that the bible is somehow "corrupted" is inappropriate and wrong.

"So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and succeed in the thing for which I sent it." (Isaiah 55:11)

According to Jewish belief, the last prophet was Ezra the scribe, who was also known as Malachi. He passed away about 400 years before J*sus was born.
According to the Talmud, (Soṭah 48b), when Malachi died the Holy Spirit departed from Israel.
So as you can see, for this reason we do not believe J*sus was a prophet, nor do we believe Muhammad was one.
I recently came across an article which explains the dynamics between Muhammad and the Jewish community of his day:

Don't forget that Jews also refused Zacharias, John the Baptist and Jesus Christ; all of whom were true prophets of GOD.

Muhammad was indeed a true prophet; in fact, he was the greatest of all the prophets...and he was sent to the WHOLE WORLD. Unlike Jesus who was sent to the lost sheep of the House of Israel, or Moses who was sent to the Israelites and Paharaoh, Muhammad is the only universal prophet.

Yeshuaic Jews beleive Muhammad to be a true prophet, but they say he's a prophet for the Arabs ONLY, and thus their belief contradicts the Koran.

That Jews refuse Myhammad is their own problem; just like all non-Muslims. Thank GOD I was spared this refusal and I accepted Muhammad as a true prophet and messenger of GOD...and like many many Jews, I converted to Islam; Sunni Islam.

Peace!

A prophet after Moses can only come while Israel is gathered and the Temple stands.

At the time of Mohammad, neither was true. As such, Mohammad could not have been a prophet of Judaism.

The problem of Jews not recognizing Muhammad is based on Abraham. Jews say Abraham was about to sacrafice his only son Isaac. The muslims say that Abraham was about to sacrafice his eldest son Ishmael with which Abraham and he had been circumcized and become the first Muslims (Bible saying first Jews) But Jews didn't consider mislims jews, therefore not eligable to be prophets. But muslims consider themselves brothers of Jews. To Jews, Prophets must descend from proper bloodlines. Muhammad was not from that they recognized.

For one, he's not a Jew. All the Jewish prophets are Jews. Besides, the line of prophesy ended long before Muhammad's time.

Prophet Muhammad (Allah's Peace be upon him) was/is a descendant of Ishmael (Allah's Peace be upon him) through his son Kedar. Jews recognize Ishmael as Abraham's illegitimate son through Hagar.

Purity during menstrual cycles? Silly.
Dietary restrictions, such as don't eat Shrimp?

Retarded stuff. These are human conventions and very dumb ones at that.
