Those responses stick out, but they are really the minority. The more average response on this site is "you have your belief, I have mine". Then there are those that genuinely feel that they have to tell you the "good news" for your own good. I don't look upon these as bad either, no more than the people who send out those warning emails "I just read that xxx can cause cancer, run around your house and throw out all of product ex, here is a link", etc.
Finally, you have to realize that the Christians who answer here are strong advocates for getting out their message, otherwise they wouldn't be on here (R&S). Lets face it, this are is not like others on Y!A where people have ahobby or interst and share ideas. This is a place to try to sell either religion or atheism, just like you're doing with this question. - you're trying to make a point, well so are they.

Why do "some people" tend to put all Christians in the same category? I have said that I believe in Heaven and hell in answers that it fit. But look up my answers, I have never "condemned" any one to hell. I can't do that. I have said that it is each persons choice. And that you are the one who makes the choice where you will end up. But only God can judge. God is your judge and He is my judge. The only judge, and the final judge. That is my belief, and I don't apologize for it.

I'm glad you asked Derrick, just today I was listening to a preacher who said evangelicals have created a Jesus who believes in getting rich and waging war. He said that's simply not the same Jesus from the Bible.
Unfortunately, the Republican party has sold itself out to church collections illegally channeled into campaign funds for so many years that they now personify and claim to represent over half of the population of the United States, that also is simply not true.
However, while they mistakenly believe their values are the law of the land they will shout them at every pulpit, on street corners and on every cable channel they can pay to get their face on.

I think they spit out what's been spat at them. Think about it...the hypocrite priests the gay evangelical pastors who preach intolerance and hatred, until they too get busted. Catholics and right wing extremists do not live by tolerant, accepting, loving principals. Fighting against gay marriage is more important than the thousands dying in Iraq (and helps distract from it). Tolerance is only urged when its one of their own who's been caught doing something less than "Christlike." This is what insincere Christians are being taught every day. They then become what they hear through their ignorant ears.
(before eveyone jumps and screams...I am a Christian. It's the intolerant, insincere ones i have a problem with)

Real Christians would not say those things, especially shouting it in all caps. Some are just incredibly overzealous. Christians are called to speak the truth in love. (Eph. 4:15) To encourage each other and build each other up. (1 Thes. 5:11)
Sorry if you had a ad experience with certain legalistic "Christians". They do not represent Jesus Christ, and He Himself will let them know in no uncertain terms.
Good Luck!

Honestly... that's what their church tells them to do... their religion says very clearly that there is no other way... that everyone else is wrong and they are right. It's ridiculous... I know... there were people who existed LONG before christ was a twinkle in Mary's eye... but that's the major problem with fundamentalist religions... they are all convinced that they are right and everyone else must be wrong. Personally, I am willing to burn in hell for my questions about the religion. I can't deal with a religion that requires blind faith.

What about Christians who don't love to condemn? What about Christians who believe in moderation? What about the old lady who goes to church, says her prayers, then goes home to spend time with her family?
Personally, I think it wrong to curse any one in God's name.
I believe that God would sentence and punish a violent criminal.
I don't think inquiry is a crime.
I believe in Jesus' redemption and compassion.

People who condemn others are fearful of their own sins.
Not all Christians do this. I am perfectly capable of saying that I make mistakes and that I have no right to judge anyone. Of course, many Christians claim I'm not Christian.

Why do you put all Christians in the same bag and assume to know what they all love. I think the answer is in you.

Christians are not acting as Christians if they are condemning other people. The Bible clearly states "Judge not that you not be judged."
