can i use tomato sauce instead of tomato paste in a recipe???

Tomato paste leaves a richer, deeper flavor and helps the sauce to thicken. Tomato sauce is milder. I actually prefer tomato sauce to paste!

Tomato sauce is very sweet, paste is quite acidic, so to counteract the tang in the paste I add sauce as well.
Tomatoes need a little sugar to bring out the flavour.

It won't be as thick but you can. I use Knorr tomato bullion in a lot of recipes to give anything a stronger tomato flavor.
