If it is a true church and they receive the Holy Ghost they should feel peace, comfort and happiness, although prior to joining it I am sure it could be tough, since Satan tries to stop people from doing good things.

Do you mean join a church like you would join a bowling league? Or do you mean join a church as in accepting Christ as your personal savior?
Trust these two things are completely different.
Becoming a Christian is so more important than attending a Christian church.
First, realize that so far, your life sucks and you can't seem to figure out what's missing; next, understand that Jesus died so that you, (yeah YOU,) might have eternal life with God; next, let go of your pride and ask Jesus into you heart and ask Him to wash away your sins away; then thank Him for what He has done and begin to read the bible for yourself.
After that, pray and ask God to lead you to the church that He wants you to attend. If you follow these steps, I'm sure you'll find the feeling, quite comforting.

Depends on the person and Depends on the Church. For me it wasn't so much a feeling once joining the Church, it was the exhilaration of finding new information in the Bible. Things starting to make sense, made me eager to learn more. It also made me want to share it with others who wanted to learn. ( not force it on people, just share the cool new insight that I had)

When I Started going to the Church of the person I was studying with, I felt very loved. I never felt pressured to do anything I wasn't comfortable with. They are all very loving people. I go to learn more. I go to find people I know care deeply for me. I also go to become more like Christ.

I hope it's a feeling of peace and acceptance, and happiness too. IF it's the place the Lord Jesus Christ wants you to be, you will have all these emotions and more. I trust you have repented of your sins and believed in Christ for salvation first, otherwise, church membership is meaningless.

But I also hope you have a feeling of wanting to be involved. Most churches have several needs and you may be the answer to one or more of these!

I think it is different for everyone, but I personally feel a joy that is above the world and above description. With this joy comes peace. It's hard to describe peace. It's still. Everything is right, and in your moment of peace there is no sorrow. Some people don't feel it as profoundly and others can't help but cry for the powerful feelings.

It is comforting to know you have made a public profession of faith. You belong to a body of believers. This is a important step in your walk with Christ the more you learn to trust him and let him more and more into your life the more confidence you are going to have and the more loved you will feel.

He will begin to teach you all he desires for you to know be patient take baby steps other believers will help you on your walk and you in turn will help them.
