What does he mean by traction?

A device used by hospitals to treat a back injury.
Usually by Doctor Vinnie Boombach. I tell ya, he doesn't give me any respect, like the other day, I called him and said, "Doc, I just took a bottle of sleeping pills, he told me to have a few drinks and get some rest."
Then he told me, "You're going crazy."
I said, "Doc, if you don't mind I'd like a second opinion."
He said, "Fine, you're ugly too!"

Ever see a movie or a tv show where some guy is in the hospital and he's got all these devices hooked up to him to keep his arms and legs from moving? They usually have cables and pulleys and they're meant to keep a person still so he can heal. In a general term, that's traction. A serious physical injury such as a car accident (or in Rodney's case having sex) can have a person wind up in traction.

It's when you throw your back out and your legs are suspended in the air with a cable on pullies and a weight on the end to try to streatch your back.
