To start off with i'm a teenager and i weigh 167 pounds. I've been trying to lose weight and since summer i've lost 25 pounds. I've been doing the same things, eating healthier, and even exercising more but I'm not overdoing it. I think i hit my plateau. How do I go back to losing weight? thanks =]

I feel your pain! I've been losing weight for a year now, and have lost 104lbs, and I hit a plateau 3 weeks ago. What happens is your body gets "used" to the work out that you're doing at the gym sometimes. It helps to shock your system with doing a completely new work out. For instance, I was doing the elliptical machine for months...pretty soon, I wasn't feeling as challenged on it, and the weight was starting to come off more slowly. So, I went in, revamped my work out, and the weight is flying off again. I go on a treadmill, and put the incline at the steepest it will go, and start my steep walk! It gets me sweating within minutes, and when I'm done, I have that "exercise high." I love it, and would highly recommend it to give your metabolism the shove it needs! I've lost another 14lbs just in 3 weeks! If you want advice, feel free to get a hold of me- I graduated with an exercise science major:)

If you are exercising a bit then you are building muscle. You wont notice it physically because it takes less space than fat and it already has a place to be in your body, where as fat tends to show up on the outside. Just continue what you are doing, and you will see that the fat will go away after time, even if you aren't losing weight. Just keep in mind that normal weight loss occurs at around 2 to 3 pounds a month, so it will occur slowly.

I know that this is a very frustrating time for you. It is like your body has said "enough is enough". What you have to do is actually step it up, but only for a short time. Once your body has figured out that this is the norm it will be loosing weight again. This is the number one problem for diets etc that almost worked. As soon as you hit your plateau a lot of people stop. Show you body that you are in charge. By the way from here out youwill be loosing about 80% fat to 20% muscle. Good luck. The answer is up the next hill.pp

There may not be anything you can do. The way I understand it is that sometimes you have to stop losing weight to actually be healthy. Like basically your body is getting healthy and getting used to this healthier smaller size and is sort of "catching up"... if you keep working out and eating healthy you will lose again when your body is ready...don't try to force it. Congrats, by the way, on the loss so far! :)

If you're counting calories, maybe lower the calories a little bit. Or maybe you could eat a little more for about a week to trick your body, and then go back to what you were doing before=)

well you may not need to lose anymore weight, it depends on your height weight ratio, but you could try riding a bike.
